Why Mitt Romney Is Hobbled by His Mormon Faith [Lds prophet's son calls Christians 'corrupt']

...Could anybody seriously object to such a candidate?

The answer...: Yes, they can. Among the main objectors are Baptists and Evangelical Christians...as well as members of the Tea Party...Together, they form a majority within the Republican Party, and they are all suspicious of Romney because he's...Mormon. Traditionalists hold that Mormons like him are not Christians because they claim that God was a human being and that human beings can be gods...

Romney is too cautious to confidently address the issue of his faith. Nevertheless, his friends are telling him that the only way to make peace with the religious wing of the Republican Party is to start talking about Mormonism, about his family's history in Mexico, about the once-common practice of polygamy and about the Mormons' relationship with America.

"Our forefathers had no Reformation, like that of Martin Luther, because they believed that all churches since the resurrection of Christ were corrupt. They wanted to re-establish Christianity in its original form. That was their Restoration," Richard Hinckley says with proud equanimity...polygamy became one of the customs of the new, syncretistic religion. Hinckley's great-grandfather had two wives, while Joseph Smith had many more -- between 33 and 44...

Richard's father, Gordon...was the president of the Mormons, the church's equivalent of the pope...

SNIP

The church is indeed fixed and unmovable, a monument to its own self-focused nature, says Will Bagley, a historian who has discussed the legends of the Mormons in most of the two dozen books he has written...

"I'm a retired Mormon," says Bagley, 62, with a hearty laugh...

...Bagley says that Joseph Smith was a religious genius because he "created the god of the Yankees," who permitted the faithful to become gods themselves. "What could be more American than the belief in eternal progress?" Bagley asks...

From the article: "Our forefathers had no Reformation, like that of Martin Luther, because they believed that ALL churches since the resurrection of Christ were corrupt. They wanted to re-establish Christianity in its original form. That was their Restoration," Richard Hinckley says with proud equanimity...polygamy became one of the customs of the new, syncretistic religion. Hinckley's great-grandfather had two wives, while Joseph Smith had many more -- between 33 and 44...Richard's father, Gordon...was the president of the Mormons, the church's equivalent of the pope...

So...the son of Lds 'prophet' Gordon B. Hinckley, Richard Hinckley, openly slanders Christian churches in this international publication: ...because they believed that ALL churches since the resurrection of Christ were corrupt.

Well, Richard Hinckley is only repeating what is primary Mormon doctrine -- and what Mitt Romney believes...(My, how "inspiring" that is...Instead of "kissing" Christian babies, Mitt comes up to a Christian family in campaign mode, smiles, and labels the entire clan "corrupt.")

Want documentation that this is mainstream Mormonism? (see chart below)

Charting Mormon Foundational Intolerance: Smithesque Slander of the Christian Church

MEMO: ‘Wake-up call’ to allies of Mormon founder Joseph Smith and those operating as current disciples of Smith: Those who 'preach' against intolerance need to take note of Mormonism's intolerant roots

Title: A Primer of How Lds founder Joseph Smith Launched His Campaign of Open Bigotry vs. Worldwide Christianity, Engaging in Scorched-Earth Religious Politics

Mitt Romney, Dec, 2007, speaking @ the George Bush Presidential Library: "I believe in my Mormon faith and I endeavor to live by it. My faith is the faith of my fathers – I will be true to them and to my beliefs."

Snapshot of Joseph Smith’s Slanderous Invectives vs. Christian Sects

Mormon Source

[Note: Most of these are Mormon ‘scriptures'. In fact, First three rows below are Lds 'scripture' & therefore cannot be rug-swept any more than a Jew might try to take three commandments off of the very tablets of stone Moses brought down from the mountain]
“...which of all the sects was right… must join NONE of them, for they were ALL WRONG… those professors were ALL CORRUPT…” Joseph Smith – History vv. 18-19. – Lds "scripture" Pearl of Great Price
...“which of all the sects was right…ALL their CREEDS were an ABOMINATION in his sight…they teach for doctrines the commandments of MEN…” Joseph Smith – History vv. 18-19. – Lds "scripture" Pearl of Great Price
Mormon church the only ‘Christ-sanctioned’ church on earth: “…the foundation of this [Mormon] church…the ONLY true and living church on the face of the whole earth [Obvious ‘scorched earth’ implication: All other churches are false and dead] Lds “scripture” Doctrines & Covenants 1:30
Direct question asked of Joseph Smith: 'Will everybody be damned, but Mormons?" Answer from Lds "prophet" Joseph Smith: 'Yes, and a great portion of them, unless they repent, and work righteousness." Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 119 [Not “scripture” – but still publicly spoken by the Mormon ‘living prophet’ and published by a later Mormon ‘living prophet,’ Joseph Fielding Smith – via a publisher owned by the Mormon church – Deseret News Press, 1938]
“In 1952…the first official proselyting plan was sent to missionaries throughout the world…It included seven missionary discussions that emphasized…[four topics, one of them being]…THE APOSTASY and Restoration…” [This makes it almost 60 years that Mormon church missionaries, now numbering 52,000, have formally emphasized in its training & door to door saturation a priority in bashing the worldwide Christian church as “apostates” (100% AWOL)] Our Heritage: A Brief History of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints p. 116, 1996

Indeed, the "I'm-a-god-possessed Mormons"...inventor of the 'Yankee' gods...

One of the past Lds "prophets" is Joseph Fielding Smith:
"President Joseph Fielding Smith said: ... 'in order to become gods, it is necessary for us to know something about pain, about sickness, and about the other things that we partake of in this school of mortality.'" (Seek Ye Eartnestly, pp. 4-5) as quoted in Choose You This Day Melchizek priesthood study guide (pp. 54-55).

Yeah, Harry Reid and Orrin Hatch have the same problem. Reid has been reelected since ‘86 and Hatch since ‘76. Yep, being Mormon is political poison, a real third rail for anyone trying their hand in the elective arena.

Why Mitt Romney Is Hobbled by His Mormon Faith [Lds prophet's son calls Christians 'corrupt']

What!!??

I am truly shocked!!!

Questions put to Joseph Smith: "'Do you believe the Bible?' [Smith:]'If we do, we are the only people under heaven that does, for there are none of the religious sects of the day that do'. When asked 'Will everybody be damned, but Mormons'? [Smith replied] 'Yes, and a great portion of them, unless they repent, and work righteousness." (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 119).
Joseph Smith: "for the teachers of religion of the different sects understood the same passages of scripture so differently as to destroy all confidence in settling the question by an appeal to the Bible" (from Pearl of Great Price 1:12). "What is it that inspires professors of Christianity generally with a hope of salvation? It is that smooth, sophisticated influence of the devil, by which he deceives the whole world" (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p.270).

Brigham Young stated this repeatedly: "When the light came to me I saw that all the so-called Christian world was grovelling in darkness" (Journal of Discourses 5:73); "The Christian world, so-called, are heathens as to the knowledge of the salvation of God" (Journal of Discourses 8:171); "With a regard to true theology, a more ignorant people never lived than the present so-called Christian world" (Journal of Discourses 8:199); "And who is there that acknowledges [God's] hand? ...You may wander east, west, north, and south, and you cannot find it in any church or government on the earth, except the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" (Journal of Discourses , vol. 6, p.24); "Should you ask why we differ from other Christians, as they are called, it is simply because they are not Christians as the New Testament defines Christianity" (Journal of Discourses 10:230).

Orson Pratt proclaimed: "Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the 'whore of Babylon' whom the Lord denounces by the mouth of John the Revelator as having corrupted all the earth by their fornications and wickedness. Any person who shall be so corrupt as to receive a holy ordinance of the Gospel from the ministers of any of these apostate churches will be sent down to hell with them, unless they repent" (The Seer, p. 255).

Orson Pratt also said: "This great apostasy commenced about the close of the first century of the Christian era, and it has been waxing worse and worse from then until now" (Journal of Discourses
, vol.18, p.44) and: "But as there has been no Christian Church on the earth for a great many centuries past, until the present century, the people have lost sight of the pattern that God has given according to which the Christian Church should be established, and they have denominated a great variety of people Christian Churches, because they profess to be ...But there has been a long apostasy, during which the nations have been cursed with apostate churches in great abundance" (Journal of Discourses , 18:172).

President John Taylor stated: "Christianity...is a perfect pack of nonsense...the devil could not invent a better engine to spread his work than the Christianity of the nineteenth century." (Journal of Discourses , vol. 6, p.167); "Where shall we look for the true order or authority of God? It cannot be found in any nation of Christendom." (Journal of Discourses , 10:127).

James Talmage said: "A self-suggesting interpretation of history indicates that there has been a great departure from the way of salvation as laid down by the Savior, a universal apostasy from the Church of Christ". (A Study of the Articles of Faith, p.182).

President Joseph Fielding Smith said: "Doctrines were corrupted, authority lost, and a false order of religion took the place of the gospel of Jesus Christ, just as it had been the case in former dispensations, and the people were left in spiritual darkness." (Doctrines of Salvation, p.266). "For hundreds of years the world was wrapped in a veil of spiritual darkness, until there was not one fundamental truth belonging to the place of salvation ...Joseph Smith declared that in the year 1820 the Lord revealed to him that all the 'Christian' churches were in error, teaching for commandments the doctrines of men" (Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 3, p.282).

More recent statements by apostle Bruce McConkie are also very clear: "Apostasy was universal...And this darkness still prevails except among those who have come to a knowledge of the restored gospel" (Doctrines of Salvation, vol 3, p.265); "Thus the signs of the times include the prevailing apostate darkness in the sects of Christendom and in the religious world in general" (The Millennial Messiah, p.403); "a perverted Christianity holds sway among the so-called Christians of apostate Christendom" (Mormon Doctrine, p.132); "virtually all the millions of apostate Christendom have abased themselves before the mythical throne of a mythical Christ whom they vainly suppose to be a spirit essence who is incorporeal uncreated, immaterial and three-in-one with the Father and Holy Spirit" (Mormon Doctrine, p.269); "Gnosticism is one of the great pagan philosophies which antedated Christ and the Christian Era and which was later commingled with pure Christianity to form the apostate religion that has prevailed in the world since the early days of that era." (Mormon Doctrine, p.316).

President George Q. Cannon said: "After the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized, there were only two churches upon the earth. They were known respectively as the Church of the Lamb of God and Babylon. The various organizations which are called churches throughout Christendom, though differing in their creeds and organizations, have one common origin. They all belong to Babylon" (Gospel Truth, p.324).

President Wilford Woodruff stated: "the Gospel of modern Christendom shuts up the Lord, and stops all communication with Him. I want nothing to do with such a Gospel, I would rather prefer the Gospel of the dark ages, so called" (Journal of Discourses , vol. 2, p.196).

You’re right! Now if only Mitt were running to be the President of Utah and Nevada...

...the presidential campaign of Mormon Church founder Joseph Smith in 1844: “Challenging Democrat James Polk and Whig Henry Clay, Smith prophesied that if the U.S. Congress did not accede to his demands that ‘they shall be broken up as a government and God shall damn them.’

Smith viewed capturing the presidency as part of the mission of the church.

While FR was down yesterday I went to the GOP Briefing Room. I referred to Romney as GOP-lite and a RINO and remarked on the GOP-e (elite) as trying to cram another “centrist” down out throats.

I rattled and upset some of the “elites”. Mission accomplished!

No, the mission you accomplished is sending another long time Freeper away, and to the GOP Briefing Room. Me.
Because the insanity tolerated here, many good Freepers have left FR and can now be found having level-headed intelligent discussions about this election at the GOPBR, without all the religious bigotry, or the willful destruction of the last man in left in America that can kick Obama and his evil horde of communist radicals out of the White House. I think I will join those former Freepers. And I will self-ZOT myself, being there is no “cancel my membership” button to be found, and I invite moderators to terminate my account.

Why not ping JR, after 8 years I would think that you are well aware of how phony your post is without doing that.

You know very well that you cannot self zot, you just go sleeper mode until the next time that you want to use your account to promote liberalism and Mormonism.

And next you'll be telling us that it isn't hard for a Mormon to be elected dogcatcher as well...and yeah, that'd be correct. On a power & discernment-needed & character eval continuum, a Congressman is closer to a dogcatcher than THE leader of the free world (POTUS).

If you can't see that huge gap, trust-wise...I'm sorry for you.

So which Christian hating family should we elect to live in the White House?

Why be the party that enables either?

If you conjointly owned commercial property with some non-Christians...
...& you had the "tenet" choice 'tween...
...a porn outlet that doubles as a prostitution center & results in STDs, a few abortions, a few broken marriages...
...vs. an abortion clinic open for "business" a few days a month,
...if your personal choice was to either choose one of these two above...
...or choose a third tenet willing to pay much, much less on the lease -- and therefore not at all lucrative to your partners...
...would you try to sort out the "lesser of two evils" and be a party to either of the above?
Really???

Would you sear your conscience with either of the above...
...Knowing that you would (a) be forever compromising your ability to speak out on either the porn or abortion industries ever again? And (b) With full voluntary consent, be participating in the sin of others? (1 Tim. 5:22)

This is a waterloo election.

So...we can either vote for...
...Obama, who seems to be able to recite the shahada (Muslim prayer) perfectly...
...is a socialist healthcare pioneer...
...a big govt pioneer...
...pro-abortion...
...will appoint liberal judges...etc.
Or, you can vote for Romney...
...who is a "god" and will become the pioneer cult posterboy for the Lds church to spend $millions of PR on to get your kids & grandkids to grow up & be cult members like him...
...is a socialist healthcare pioneer...
...a big govt pioneer...
...pro-abortion...
...will appoint liberal judges...etc.
...Or you can vote third party.

'Cause if you vote for a big govt liberal like Romney, forget about the GoP having a "base" to go back to...
...forget about the power-mongers in the GoP ever offering up a true conservative again...

Oh...and btw...while the "Christian-hating" by both candidates is a consideration, I don't consider it as THE primary criteria...
...meaning I, too, don't want to see evals being made upon...
...ONLY re: how a candidate effects me
...how he effects my wallet...
...how he effects my SELF-survival...

If we were really concerned about "survival" as a nation, we wouldn't have a major pro-abort in the White House and the GoP wouldn't be offering up a "pro-abort" to represent the rest of us...

Because this all shows we could care less about the survival of the pre-born...
...therefore, either candidate will rain down judgement upon America...

Since the Christians will probably decide this election along with the Independents...
...How do you think God will feel...
...knowing His people participated in the elevation of an open idolatry candidate?

If Obama said tomorrow he was Messiah II, and Christians voted him in, wouldn't that be elevating a false competitor to Jesus Christ? (Yes)
Therefore, when a temple Mormon like Mitt believes he is already a "god in embryo" on his way to full-grown godhood as a future rival to God for glory, worship, adoration, adulation, reception of prayers, and the right to create spirit babies while ruling his own world, that sounds to be like God has plenty of room to judge both the Christian church in the U.S. as well as our nation itself.

As Douthat has written in his recent book, we are indeed a nation of heretics. (So many Americans are either one; or they'll wink at it; or they'll openly elevate & endorse it)
