I have found that most of the bible has layers of understanding, e.g. each story means many things, and that you can only understand each layer when you are ready. Please don't consider them “secrets” like some charlatans and deceivers like to call them. Having said that, a lot of non-believers like to contort the bible to their own desire. A way to tell if someone is explaining a deeper layer or if they are trying contort the bible is that a deeper layer does not invalidate or conflict with the first interpretation.
