Jo Ann Nardelli has been a Catholic Democrat her entire life. Her father was one before her. And she couldn't imagine a day where that wouldn't be true.
But that day was Wednesday of last week.
I read a story about Jo Ann leaving the Democratic Party and was interested because she cited her Catholic faith as the reason.
So I gave her a call. I got her machine and as I was leaving a message she picked up. She said she'd been screening her calls because so many people have been calling to say nasty things to her or just pleading with her to change her mind. But when I called, saying I was with The National Catholic Register she picked up.
She said she figured I wouldn't be too mean to her.
Nardelli has been the focus of quite the firestorm in Pennsylvania because the thing is that Jo Ann Nardelli isn't just another Democratic committeewoman. She's the president and founder of the Blair County Federation of Democratic Women, she was Vice President of the PA State Women’s Caucus, and was 1st Vice President of the PA State Federation of Democratic Women (she had been in line for the presidency of that organization in 2014). She met with Hillary Clinton, gave a rosary to Joe Biden, and appeared on the cover of US News and World Report going to Church with then Senate candidate Bob Casey Jr.
Nardelli has always been a pro-life Democrat and felt that there was always room for that position in the party. But she said that for the past few years she's felt that the party was drifting further and further away from her. She said she never shied away from speaking about her Catholic faith or her pro-life views as a Democrat.

So will she become a Republican or a conservative? I doubt it.
The two platforms are simply unable to compute.
There seems to be more Democrat detractors lately, hope that continues over the summer to erode Obama’s support even further.

Well, she’s already become a social conservative if only by default since holding to the Biblical view of human life, marriage and sexuality is “radically right wing!!!!” according to the cultural elites.
Good for her that reality finally sunk in. Not that I wish it on her, but if she were mugged perhaps she’d go all the way to conservative.
I commend her for her courage... And I hate to be mean, but ... What took so long?
God is clearly not a member of any man made political party, but a strong case can be made that the Democrat Party has been Satan's Party for quite some time. The Party that supports unfettered and unapologetic abortion; that supports homosexual 'marriages'; celebrates homosexuality; disparages Biblical Christianity at every opportunity (yet tries to turn Black Churches into venues that preach politics and not Christ); is supported by the pornography industry ... just a general vile lot. And it has been that way for years. I wonder what woke her up?
Perhaps the rest of the article indicates what she changed her party to.

Did all of you know that at the Denver convention the dimocrats put a plank in their platform to support abortion? I think they will lose even more members.
In fact, she will probably still champion the pernicious health care bill, as long as the bc mandate is gone. This IS the Catholic position.

A Christian has to stand with Christ, and anyone who supports abortion, faggitry, euthenesia, is standing in diret opposition to Christ. Sure, they may CALL themselves Catholic or Christian, but they are living a lie.
At least, my understanding is that the teachings are not determined by the opinions of some bishops. Same thing with illegal 'immigration'. A lot of Catholic bishops favor open borders because they think it will increase the number of Catholics in the USA. But I know for a fact that the position of the Catholic church, and the pope, is against illegal immigration.
No, support for Obamacare is ubiquitous throughout the Catholic hierarchy, from parish priests all the way to high ranking bishops. Among professing Catholics themselves, support was/is very high, just as the support for Obama, the most unchristian president in history, is very high.
It can’t get any more psychotic than this.
