A Melkite Greek Catholic archimandrite has denounced Western media coverage of the Syrian conflict.
The reality on the ground is far from the picture that imposes disinformation in Western media, said Msgr. Philippe Tournyol Clos. Opposition forces have occupied two areas, Diwan Al Bustan and Hamidieh, where there are all the churches and bishoprics.
The picture for us is utter desolation: the church of Mar Elian is half destroyed and that of Our Lady of Peace is still occupied by the rebels, he continued. Christian homes are severely damaged due to the fighting and completely emptied of their inhabitants, who fled without taking anything.

See — the alternative to Assad.
The Muslim world is going from bad to worse, much worse.
We are already witnessing the alternative to Hussein in Iraq.
Iraqi Christians were certainly better treated by his regime than by today’s ‘democratically elected’ goverment.
Hussein always knew that Iraqi Christians were model citizens and that he had nothing to fear from them.
Exactly. Hussein was an evil sob, but he left Christians alone, because Christians did not involve themselves politically. There were 2 million Christians in Iraq in 2003, now there are less than 300,000 and dropping.
Assad in Syria is an evil sob, but the alternative will be a slaughter of Christians -- the alternative would be more dangerous to America and Israel.
Muslims have to be governed by evil SOBs or they go berserk and get out of hand.
Seen any truly democratic muslim country lately? Seen any in their historical past?
Don’t expect to see any in the future.
i think the problem lies in the religious-historical context — Islam had a prophet who was the ruler as well, and a mad genocidal maniac.
