Microbes are neither good nor evil. Jesus said when Satan came at Him he could find nothing in Him to attach to. I doubt that microbes could attack Jesus, but your assertion assumes that you know he did not wash His hands. That isn’t what the story of the wedding at Cana indicates from tradition, since the jugs of water summoned for making the wine were set aside for washing. It might further be noted that we either believe God or we don’t. Abraham believed God and it was counted for him righteousness. Since I believe the Tanach was given from God to Moses, I believe Jesus as God with us was well aware of the data He gave to Moses, and in fact to all the prophets recorded for our learning.

Mark 7: 1-23

Microbes certainly could attack Jesus by virtue of his humanity, as certainly did suffering, and could definitely have attacked his disciples.

I understand that in deference to the historical timeframe that Jesus, again ostensibly as God, could not have made this reference in a historical sense, thus disrupting the flow of history. But given that the then ritual aspect would have served to protect his disciples at least somewhat, makes it difficult for me to understand his aversion to even then commonly understood ritual purity.

In other words, to me, it doesn’t make sense...as the other objections I raised in my original post don’t. And I do believe that God as Father has common sense.

In this same vein, why in teaching “Our Father...” did Jesus pray an essentially Hebrew prayer with no messianic sense at all? That also seems quite odd to me.

I believe the Gospels were written with an agenda to make Jesus into the messiah he was not. Though that he became so to so many, and directly affected the founding of the United States is a point I don’t argue. In that sense he was the Savior. My personal takes are strictly theological by which I would hope any such messianic claims for Jesus would be legitimately taken up.

God’s magnificence in All, and to You and Yours....
