No, those who are engaged in impropriety are the ones trying to hide behind accusations of the the “church being inhospitable to women.” It is their impropriety that is in question, not their gender.

There's nothing complex about saying that a bunch of so-called nuns who support abortion, oppose the Church on every life issue and even every part of its internal law (ordination of women, etc.), are completely wrong and are not being faithful to the teachings of the Church and their vocation. What is there not to understand?
The only thing that is hard to understand is why they didn't do this much earlier. But I imagine that would be thanks to people like Cdl O'Malley.
