But I’m a good Mormon wife: Sean and I had the perfect life. Then his faith started to crumble...

...When Sean replaced his temple garments — the sacred underwear he’d promised to wear day and night — with boxers, I couldn’t take it anymore. It was too much betrayal. I called up a neighbor with a husband like mine and cried. But instead of empathy, she offered questions that stunned me into silence. Was Sean addicted to pornography? Watching R-rated movies? What sin had brought him to this terrible place?

...Her questions were so off-base...She was sincere, and trying to help, but she believed what the Church teaches — that a man would only leave because he’s disobeying the commandments. She couldn’t understand this was a rational inquiry. She saw everything as the result of sin.

...The Church was wrong about him. What else might they be wrong about?...

...I often found him hunched over his iPad reading everything he could find on Mormon origins...“I’m sorry, but I just have to tell you. Did you know that…” and then he’d tell me...About how Joseph Smith mistranslated some Egyptian hieroglyphics that are part of our canonized scripture. About how he translated the Book of Mormon while looking at a stone inside of a hat.

I listened half-heartedly...though I wasn’t about to go looking at them myself...until one night it was about polygamy, my archnemesis.

“Did you know that Joseph Smith married a 14-year-old girl against her will? Did you know that he’d send men on missions and marry their wives in secret when they were gone?” ...he kept talking, a horror growing in my gut. I knew that if Sean was right, then Joseph Smith was a fraud. I saw no difference between his acts and the modern-day acts of Warren Jeffs, whom I abhorred. And if Joseph Smith was a fraud — then what did that make the Church?

Liberal Salon folks are simply carrying water for the Obama campaign p> Did you mind it when they were carrying the water for LIAR Romney for close to four years? Did you forget FL so quickly? Or Drudge's Bloody Thursday against Newt - compliments of the KNOWN LIAR, KNOWN thrasher of conservatives, Romney? This is about Mormonism - and it's not a lie.

Wait until Romney starts to reap what he has sown - JUST for the past 4 years. We reap MORE than we sow and LATER than we sow.

...those conservatives abandoning principles in favor of Romney are more apologetic of Mormonism...

Which leaves those conservatives (like me) who don't support Romney where?

That was a general comment about those who claim that all of the LDS threads are us carrying water and that Romney’s religion would NEVER be a factor in the election.

As long as the media tells the truth and does not lie... then anyone who believes in the truth should not fear it. If they lie, then it is open warfare on liars. The truth is the truth... there is only truth and lies.

Romney is the nominee in all but title. If you’re THAT ignorant of the facts, there is no point having a discussion.

I really wanted almost anyone in the field besides Romney and Huntsman but I understand Romney is the only one left who can defeat Obama in November so it’s either choose a squishy moderate with far too many liberal positions for my comfort or get four more years of wrecking the country. That’s the real-world situation we face.

I just hope Romney continues to pound Obama on the economy because if he can stay on that message, he should win.

Bump and a pat on the back to you.
Religion in politics is so 13th Century.
Reminds me of the days I ignorantly thought our
country would be run by the Pope if JFK was
elected.
I pray that those who declare an inability to
vote for a Mormon soon realize that they may
be speeding up Sharia law. Pray for our grand-kids.

No hate, just the facts as ugly as they may be.

And I spend far more than 3 minutes a day fighting that Mormon cult. Its a full time ministry for me now.

Huge difference there spunky. The LDS church is based here int he US and the prophet HAS ordered LDS congress critters to vote the way he tells them even if it is against their conscience. Also, 13 LDS congress critters went to Switzerland ON OFFICIAL BUSINESS to ask for a waiver to their new missionary law ONLY FOR THE LDS church when the law affects all churches.

And I can source that. So your inane comparison to the Catholicism of JFK fails.

Furthermore, a Mormon will do more to PROMOTE sharia law here in the US than stop it. Bet on it.

It is an eye opening ordeal. The progressives are the largest problem that we have but it is the Conservatives that will kill the truth and attack others for telling the truth that are the largest danger to our ideology.

This is about souls not politics.

BINGO!!

And how many plan to bow to evil, as the other side did, with Barry. How is that working out for America?

One nation under evil is the goal of satan. Mormonism or islam- he doesn't care - they are both godless.

Well you ignorantly, didn't think, JFK was just a benchwarmer - Romney is a bishop in the cult of Mormonism who is bound to the cults hierarchy.

be speeding up Sharia law

Now why would that be? Because Barry, the president is a muslim and sides w/their wants. "my muslim faith".

So much for your Religion in politics is so 13th Century.

How many Mormons ran for President before Romney...NONE.

I know the GOP is trying to make discussions about the odd aspects of Mormonism politically incorrect. But as a conservative, I am not really into political correctness. People deserve to know about the candidates running for office - including Obama.

We knew this was coming from the press if Mittens got the nomination. Here it is. You will see more of it. Romney was a Bishop and Mormonism must be discussed in the normal vetting process, before our first affirmative action Marxist where vetting was named racist, of a Presidential candidate.

This story is all too familiar for me, except my wife hasn’t left the church.

Like him, I too was accused of wanting to sin, etc. when I decided to leave because of what I found out about the church and mormonism.

We even had a few characters here on FR chant the SLC talking points about us apostates.

Flintlock: "Behold: the attack on Romney!"

Flintlock - is this an ad for Romney, or is it just an independent Mormon ad totally unrelated to the election?

Many Mormons I know are consistency-challenged; I look forward to your comment.
