You make a very good point. My personal preference would be that those threads be minimized as well. However...a thread about cooking or homebrewing etc deal with provable concepts. Christians and atheists both weigh in with unprovable concepts. You could find a representative zelot of numerous religions willing to die for their beliefs...at most, only one of them could be correct. Arguing unprovable concepts seems a waste of time (and bandwidth) to me. Believe what you want, but I find proselytizing offensive, hence my remarks. Hate me if you must, that’s just how I feel. (When discounting my views you should know that I was an altar boy back in the Latin mass days and even considered the priesthood during my grade school years and I have studied many religions in the years hence)

We argue unprovable concepts on FR all the time in the form of opinions and speculation. E.g., someone likes Sarah Palin, another person does not. Which one is correct? Someone grows tomatoes on a trellis, another grows them in cages. Which is correct?

If FR were confined to only threads where only provable concepts were discussed (actually there wouldn’t be any discussion if it was proven), it would be a pretty dry place.

I think people frequent FR and other forums to read different opinions and ideas, provable or not. By weighing a lot of different options, you develop your own world view and everyone’s is different because of their interest, knowledge, and experience.

There’s something for everyone and if religion threads don’t float your boat, you can just pass them by. It’s not possible to proselytize someone who is not interested in being proselytized.

There are plenty of threads that hold no interest whatsoever for me, and I just pass them by. But they may be topic number one for someone else and that’s great.

I believe that God inspires Jesus4Life to share his faith on FR. His efforts touch me and give me a boost when I need it. I know I’m not the only one.

Challenging a person does not imply hate.
