I have a sister-in-law and her husband who live in the glow of liberalism and normalcy bias. They live on the coast and have nothing in case of a hurricane. They are sure they are just fine. They also believe there is no God.

I, however, see the US as toast and the toast gets darker and darker, week by week. I am prepared for whatever happens and I pray to God for deliverance through these times.

My BIL and his NEA (socialist) wife think I'm pretty much a wing nut. They shop for groceries on Sunday....and buy just enough to get them through to....the next Sunday. She actually gets mad if he buys ahead on anything.

Anytime I want to push her button, I make a small, mildly critical remark about the government. Or if I really want to get her fired up, I bring up public schools and how our homeschooled daughter went to private college on scholarship at 16 and ran rings around the products of public school. It's really quite comical.

They refuse to even consider the possibility of a severe enough economic "downturn" to beget violence in the streets. Fortunately they live several states away, so they'll be on their own when things get worse.

That kind of smugness gets cured by reality.

If you can't do the math, or forge the metal, or make or find the food... You die.

That's pretty simple. Life has always been that way.
