My daughter’s beautiful baptismal gown was crafted from antique slips dating from 19th century Austria. The gown was trimmed with lace and pink ribbons and small silk roses. Priceless!

I donated my wedding dress - it was blue, and I looked stuning - to Goodwill before we moved from San Antonio. I’m still thinner now, after ten children, than I was then.

There is a lady in my parish who makes baptismal and First Communion dresses and accessories from wedding gowns, or to match. She will make them specially with family items, but also buys gowns from thrift stores and makes new pieces. There was a lovely satin dress at the Goodwill for $8 last winter, when I was buying “OMG I’m huge!” dresses for my last few weeks of pregnancy.

My daughter made my granddaughter’s Baptismal gown out of her wedding dress. None of my other children did that, but Elizabeth’s dress was beautiful.
