Companies Pay No Price for Offending Christians
The Christian Diarist ^ | July 10, 2012 | JP

So Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer each donated $100,000 each to defeat Referendum 74, a state of Washington ballot measure that would overturn a law, passed by the state’s “progressive” legislature and governor, that would allow same-sex marriages.

What both the Microsoft co-founder and CEO are telling those of us who use the software giant’s products, who object to homosexual couplings, who consider it an abomination in the eyes of the God, is that they couldn’t care less about our religious sensibilities.

If we don’t like their politics, too bad. We’re welcome to purchase our next operating system from some company other than Microsoft.

That’s the attitude of not only Gates and Ballmer, but executives of all too many Fortune 500 companies that promote causes and organizations that most social conservatives, most evangelical Christians, find objectionable.

Indeed, the list of corporations that have gotten in bed with gay rights activists on same-sex marriage includes not only Microsoft, but also Starbucks, Boeing, Google, Nike, Time Warner Cable,Aetna, Xerox, Goldman Sachs, Viacom and Alcoa.

There is a similar, unholy relationship between Fortune 500 corporations and Planned Parenthood, the nation’s leading abortion provider. While few companies directly fund the death dealers, many indirectly support its agenda through such seemingly innocent organizations as the Girl Scouts and the YWCA..

Indeed, the Girl Scouts have partnered with Planned Parenthood to “bring information-based sex education programs to girls.” The YWCA has hooked up with the abortion “rights” organization to co-host workshops on youth pregnancy and prevention.

The list of corporations complicit in Planned Parenthood’s slaughter of innocents include Alcoa, All State, AT&T, Coca-Cola, Dell, Dove, Lockheed Martin, MetLife and Motorola.

I know there are some, if not many, who count themselves evangelical Christians or social conservatives or both, who have misgivings about signing on to boycotts, for one reason or another.

Well, I will not presume to suggest that they ignore their misgivings; that they no longer drink Starbucks coffee or wear Nike sneakers or use AT&T as their cellular service provider.

I will only say that, as for me and my house, we will not give one dollar more to such corporations for them to use in support of causes – like same-sex marriage and abortion – that we find morally repugnant.

Public corporations should not take sides in the culture war, but remain neutral.

It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong.

Amen, more and more it looks like we are in the Evil vs Good
war as foretold. We must embrace our faith because it was also foretold evil will win in the beginning. I don’t think there is much doubt that we are at the time when good becomes bad and bad becomes good. May God help us all.

I agree but at the same time most of what we have in the constitution is directed at government and not at companies or individuals.

The constitution does not prevent me as an individual or company owner from discriminating, although they are interpreting it to be just that.

As long as we have a Congress that will vote in the favor of the highest bidder then this is what we will get.

If i have a lot of stock in a company that is manufacturing and selling condoms or birth control pills or a thousand other things even if it may go against the things that we know that God would not approve of i am going to lose money if i do not support it or at least say i support it.

Most of the rich people has a lot of money invested in a lot of things and they do not want to start losing money on any thing.

I believe this homosexual thing just happens to be in the way, in other words if they go against that then in ways not of my limited understanding they would be going against things that are keeping them rich or from going broke.

I believe we need to stop the power campaign contributions of these people by setting the maximum at maybe $100.00 for a state election and $500.00 for a presidential election.

( But maybe that would be unconstitutional, i don,t know. )

I am ignorant of these things but seems to me that would give some of the honest people a chance to run for office, even i could give $10.00 to some one i thought would give us decent service as a public servant.

We hear advertizing every 5 minutes on the radio or tv of the politicians telling lies about one an other that cost millions of dollars, do we really need that?

Face to face with the people they are more apt to just stick to the issues

But as long as the big corporations such as you mentioned is giving all of the money to get who they want in from dog catcher to president then i don,t see any way we are going to have any thing except what we have had and what we got.

The Bible says that love for money is the root of all evil, the Government wants to rob the rich and give to the poor Government people, but this is also love for money and the same evil, the poor wanting some one else,s money is just as evil.

We need to take away the compensations that the elected and appointed servants get which to most of the people paying the bills would be living in fantasy land.

Sacrificing ones life for their country, that is like a preacher Sacrificing his life for God while living in a million dollar mansion.

We need to get people in office that could have no other purpose than to want to uphold the constitution, but as long as they are so generously rewarded, what we get with a few exceptions are the political whores with their little Hitlers.

Stop the flow of money to the political whores and it will solve the problem, maybe.

I've always been an advocate for limiting donations to people who can vote.

Are you a company? Can't donate.
Are you a union? Can't donate.
Are you any kind of legal entity? Can't donate.
Illegal Alien or foreigner? Can't donate.

Legally registered to vote? Donate all you want. Once.

Bill Gates isn’t with Microsoft anymore....

try again

Also, Gates donates a ton of money to Charter schools including KIPP. You know what a charter school is right? Its that place kids go that isn’t run by the dept of education. KIPP is also anti union. Bash gates all you want but he is his own person and you cant expect him to go along with every one of your little pet causes / beliefs. If you expect everyone to agree with you and shun those who don’t, you will die sad and alone. Here’s an idea... quit worrying about what other people do and worry about yourself.

Bill Gates isn’t with Microsoft anymore....

I know that. However, nowhere in my one-line linked post did I mention anything about Bill Gates.

try again

Try what again? I merely copied and pasted a single line from the article and linked to one of many possible solutions.

Also, Gates donates a ton of money to Charter schools including KIPP.

He is also a major funder of abortion and worldwide population control.

Bash gates all you want but he is his own person and you cant expect him to go along with every one of your little pet causes / beliefs.

You're right. However, since I am also my own person, I do not have to give approval (tacit or otherwise) to anyone who doesn't go along with my beliefs.

Not that I bashed Bill in any way in my post for anything.

Here’s an idea... quit worrying about what other people do and worry about yourself.

Here's a better idea--learn to actually read posts and respond to what's in them, rather than trying to read my mind.

Sounds like the right track to me.
