There's generally no Bible in a Catholic Church.

What! All of the scriptures read at Mass come from the Bible. The priest also blesses the congregation with the Bible.

>>I would no more go to church without my Bible than I would my shoes<<

So if you forget your copy, a paper with the scriptures of the day are not “The Word of God”?

Oh, okay.

I’m gathering that if it’s not read out of a personal Bible with a nice cover, brought from home, it’s not from the Word of God.

Geez, and I thought that these were the same people who had problems with statues and scapulars. They have their own form of “idolotry”. LOL!!!

I stand corrected. Yeah, I’ve always considered it odd that Daniel wasn’t thrown in the furnace. These were close associates of his. Promoted upon Daniels assurance. At least I can admit when I make an error. (Maybe that’s why I made in the first place).

"I would no more go to church without my Bible than I would my shoes."

Perhaps you "go to church" for different reasons than Catholics do. We (Catholics) in communion in the Mass to celebrate the sacrifice the crucifixion and resurrection, to share in the Eucharist and foremost to worship. We do not come to get a lecture on biblical exegesis.

That is not to say that the Bible is absent from a Catholic Mass. Along with the obvious Scriptural readings, every word, gesture and object in the Mass and at the altar is taken directly from Scripture. For Catholics, just as Jesus is more than the words of Scripture, and as He became a real person for us and our Salvation, He is present to us in every human sense (smells & bells) in the Mass. I attend daily because He is never quite so near to me as when I partake in the "Epiousious" as He commanded.

Peace be to you.

Did I miss where you actually corrected something? You said I was wrong, but offered no correction.

Yeah. It was Daniels friends that were thrown into the furnace and not Daniel. It always puzzled me that Daniel was not thrown in as well. These were his friends and he essentially got them their jobs. But you were wrong about those three friends’ God to be Babylonian. They worshiped the same God as Daniel. Daniels’ God was/is not Babylonian.

I didn’t say the three freinds’ god was Babylonian. But he didn’t refer to them by their own names, but by the names of Babylonian demon-gods.

What’s wrong with this guy?

You should pose that question while looking at a mirror.

In your post you omitted the caveat “in my unlearned opinion.”

There is no Bible present at their Mass.

Quite incorrect.

Next time you publicly demonstrate how poorly you comprehend Scripture don't fail to include the caveat "in my unlearned opinion."

"Understanding this first, that no prophecy of scripture is made by private interpretation. For prophecy came not by the will of man at any time: but the holy men of God spoke, inspired by the Holy Ghost." 2 Peter 1:20-21

"And account the longsuffering of our Lord, salvation; as also our most dear brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, hath written to you: As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are certain things hard to be understood, which the unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, to their own destruction." 2 Peter 3:15-16

"The priest also blesses the congregation with the Bible."

That is not exactly correct. Although all of Sacred Scripture is present and presented in the Liturgy of the Word, the Church acknowledges the preeminent place of the Gospels by according "special marks of honor" to their proclamation. This is performed only by a deacon, priest, or bishop. The book that is being held up by the Pope is the Gospels, not the whole Bible.

Peace be with you.

And still it boils down to me understanding what God wishes to impart to me.

Quite incorrect.

Take a look at 2 Peter for what will likely be the very first time.

At my local Catholic church, congregants often bring their own Bibles. Bibles are also for sale at the adjacent church bookstore.

You’re quite obtuse. That’s one of those benefits of a public education they forget to tell you about beforehand.
