A furore over circumcision in Germany reached neighbouring Austria on Tuesday as a state governor advised doctors against performing the procedure, even when it is on religious grounds.
Markus Wallner, centre-right state premier of Vorarlberg, said the instructions followed a controversial June ruling by a court in the German city of Cologne that equated circumcision of young boys with grievous bodily harm.
That verdict provoked uproar from religious and political leaders in Israel as well as Muslim countries, with Chancellor Angela Merkel reportedly saying it risked making Germany a "laughing stock".

Jews and Muslims, joined at the snip.
But it’s OK to kill them in the womb? Liberals are really weird. (Austria does allow 2nd trimester abortions - WikiPedia)
What do you mean by that question? They should allow the antisemites to force them out?
There are medical studied that show reduced medial problems in later life due to circumcision. The Jews have been practicing this ritual for thousands of years and are having major problems just lately. Abortion is OK but not circumcision? The left is mentally ill!
You can call it that, others prefer to call it making aliyah... My question is, why would anybody live in a country that does not want that person there? Anti-semitism is on the rise in Europe. Should a person move to Israel or stay there just to make a point (nobody can force me out) and potentially risk the life of that person's family? I am not Jewish, although I did leave my country for the US and NEVER looked back, but I am a mother and as such I always put the welfare of my children first.
Typical, hysterical liberal.
This is pretty funny.
Seriously. :-)
I was listening to a story on NPR a few weeks ago about reducing the spread of Aids in Africa. There is a major push there to convince people, en mass, to undergo a procedure that demonstrably and significantly reduces the occurrences of aids: Male circumcision.
Re: “Circumcision and AIDS”
The positive relationship between circumcision and lower transmission rates for AIDS has been scientifically established for at least 20 years.
Incredibly, San Francisco, which has one of the highest AIDS rates in America, has also recently tried to ban circumcision.
As to Africa, where heterosexual AIDS is now epidemic, male circumcision rituals were common in previous centuries, so it is not just Jews and Muslims who believed this procedure to be beneficial.
You're 100% right, FF . . . I have no idea why any Jew would want to live in Europe any more.
