The ‘harm to yourself’ aspect of the comment is meant for your protection. Sometimes I don’t want to conjure memories of dark times in my life and I would understand if you would not want to do that yourself. My older brother served in Viet Nam and did not talk about it to me in an intimate way although he shared everything else with me about himself. He explained to me that he did not want to conjure the images and experiences. So I never again asked him to tell me about his time at war after that. It might not serve you to share that experience of war like it was with my brother. I was letting you know that would be understandable.
This is a Christian website and you are free to discuss your experience in those terms if that is true to you. There are atheists and others here, too. And many who do not believe evil exists. I know it exists. You know it exists.
What good would it do? I think God uses everything to His advantage and if you know evil exists because you met it, sharing your experience will help others to have your testimony that it is real. But as I said, it might not be to your well being to even enter into that memory. I would understand.

Sara, I would suggest getting a copy of my book. It’s all detailed inside. After you are done, perhaps your brother should read it. Iraq was no different from Vietnam - other than the large amounts of sand and little to no vegetation.
I started learning about the enemy - and the whole time while they tried to kill us on a daily basis - I started looking into the religion aspect. I’m Catholic and well aware of evil and the presence of evil. Dealt with it as a teenager where priest where involved. Babylon was like no other place on Earth — I can;t believe I was there even as I look at photo’s I took.
The darkness is there - the evil - a very old and powerful evil. When it is near - when the enemy closes in to attack — that’s what i came to understand - to know and see. I don’t mind sharing, which is why I wrote the book. People need to understand - that one religion was brought to mankind for their salvation and a counter-religion was formed to oppress mans soul and destroy it. This article proves that point - a point I saw personally over there...a point your brother saw as well.
I even think back to the Rolling Stones song — where the devil talks about being there throughout history...those crazy Brit’s got it — and the rest of us need to be reminded of it — and learn more about it through different situations.
Unlike other authors — my book isn’t much - and I don’t get much from it...but it’s there as a learning tool. That’s more important to me than anything else. What’s in the book scared the crap out of the major publishing houses. They were all about it and excited - but after reading it...the ran from what it had to say...
