August 13, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - One of the leading lights of the pro-life movement in the United States has gone out. Nellie Gray, the charismatic octogenarian founder of the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., the largest annual pro-life event in the country, passed away over the weekend, and was discovered in her apartment earlier today.

Gray, who was once described by Cardinal Sean O’Malley as the “Joan of Arc” of the pro-life movement, was an ubiquitous figure at the pro-life march every year, her slight frame standing at the podium at stage centre, introducing the many luminaries who addressed the crowd of several hundred thousand during the rally before the march. http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/breaking-march-for-life-founder-nellie-gray-passes-away/

This a tune I have known all my life and I use it as a square dance tune. It’s not just known in the south.

I am an ardent pro-lifer but I had never heard of this modern day Nellie Gray. I’m glad that she is enjoying her reward right now.

Nellie was in charge of the March for Life that they have every year in Washington.I met Nellie a few times. The first time I met her I had to introduce her.It was at a Shrine and the first time I spoke publicly. She said to me”Honey if you got something to say it doesn’t matter if there are 5 people or 5,000.”True words and I did fine:)

Oh, how sad...hopefully, someone just as passionate will be in lone to take her place.
I’ve been to a few of the marches and she was inspirational, respected, walked the walk and worked tirelessly for the unborn.
God bless her.
