Moscow's top court has upheld a ban on gay pride marches in the Russian capital for the next 100 years.
Earlier Russia's best-known gay rights campaigner, Nikolay Alexeyev, had gone to court hoping to overturn the city council's ban on gay parades.
He had asked for the right to stage such parades for the next 100 years.
He also opposes St Petersburg's ban on spreading "homosexual propaganda". The European Court of Human Rights has told Russia to pay him damages.
On Friday he said he would go back to the European Court in Strasbourg to push for a recognition that Moscow's ban on gay pride marches - past, present and future - was unjust.

Good for Russia.
Sexual behavior in public is illegal here. It is a shame it is not enforced.
I mean, on the one hand, they embrace moral causes such as not promoting homosexuality.
On the other hand, they cannot seem to master being a Republic.... Putin seems to be trying to recreate the Tsarist Russian years (though thankfully he's not returning to Communism).
If they continue to embrace morality, Russia will be favored by God and succeed. But how, if they go back to a Tsarist model? Russia is a confusing mess.
But, their women are hot.
Why not make it permanent?............
It does not matter what form of government they have. Putin could declare himself Tsar of all the Russias, and if God favors them, they will be prosperous. Saul, David and Solomon were absolute rulers, too.......
...unfortunately their methods and many of the other things they get, is pretty much the SOS that Hitler and Stalin advocated...the outcome being, the end of liberty.

I think the answer may turn out to be: "It doesn't".
The fundamental problem is that "good government" simply does not exist. Nor do "good people". All forms of government are bad ... they have either to much power or not enough, and no truly effective way of policing themselves. All government suffers from the same problem: both the governors and the governed are corrupt sinners.
It is a matter of survival. Their birthrates are disastrously low as it is. They can't afford for more Russian children to be recruited into the "gay movement".
It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma.
Now this is the way to handle the militant mentally ill. They demanded the right to have their Pervert Parades for 100 years, and the government bans them for 100 years.
I expect there to be calls from the gays for the IOC to dump Sochi for the 2014 Winter Games, and for countries to boycott.
