At an Eid ceremony that marked the end of Ramadan, Gov. Pat Quinn of Illinois decried attacks on Muslims and lauded religious freedom.
Quinn, who knelt toward Mecca during the ceremony, called religious freedom the most American and fundamental freedom that we have in our country.
The First Amendment of our Constitution says that everyone, everyone has the right to practice their religion and their faith without fear of intimidation, he added.
At the ceremony, Quinn signed a bill permitting college students to take exams on alternate days when they conflict with a religious holiday.
Quinns remarks come a year after he signed civil-union legislation that led the state to end adoption and foster-care contracts with Catholic Charities, which refused to place children with same-sex couples. Quinn, a Catholic, has also been criticized by the states bishops for his support for abortion.
We are extremely lucky in Illinois to hold the record for the most corrupt politicans in the country & probably the most ex governers in prison! (/sarc)
This guy sounds like a poser who is trying to please men instead of God, the 3 in 1. No the moon rock Satanic god of the muslims.
We are extremely lucky in Illinois to hold the record for the most corrupt politicans in the country & probably the most ex governers in prison! (/sarc)Ain't that the truth? It was such a shame when Bill Brady lost (or whatever) to Quinn.
This guy sounds like a poser who is trying to please men instead of God, the 3 in 1. No the moon rock Satanic god of the muslims.Yes, he's pretty bad..
There was a third party candidate running against Quinn..
Oh, yeah, I got a picture of his automobile (with all the campaign scrawling on it) in Aurora, as he and his family stopped a bit to march for life. Good man too.
It is shameful that this ungodly man retains membership in the Catholic church. What has happened to church discipline of unrepentant sinners such as Quinn, Pelosi, the Kennedys et al? Any Catholic who defends murdering the pre-born should be excommunicated. God is not mocked, not even by bishops and popes.
You’re right. He should be excommunicated formally today! But that’s not how the Church operates. It’s ridiculous; so slooooooooow.. Cardinal George has been recently rediagnosed with cancer, this time both in the kidney and liver. That sounds rather grim, and I wonder if he’ll do anything about these folks (we have Fr. Pfleger too) who make such a mockery of our dear Church.
Is it true your new state motto is: “Illinois, where our governors make our license plates”?
The conservative Bishops of Illinois have started cross-cultural programs between Catholic and Muslim grade schools. Both of these communities will be the significant producers of the next generation. Gallop polls have shown in recent years that Pro-Lifers are trending above 50% of the US population soon. Liberal politicians have shown us under Obama’s reign that any law is possible - even outlawing abortion. And now with Robert’s Supreme court upholding anything congress will pass, is it possible abortionists will soon get the death penalty?
Wait a sec... “Quinn, a ‘catholic’...”. Fixed it for you. I may be mistaken, but I thought I’d read something, perhaps on FE, on him having recited prayers during ramadan. One of the others pointed out, rightly, that if he recited the shahada, he’s not Catholic anymore, anyway. That act, recited, would make him muslim.
It seems something could “break” soon, however, I think it might be more from Christ than the government (or maybe a mixture). I like to credit the little old ladies that stay after daily Mass year after year and pray the rosary. I think they keep our town afloat. And of course Mother Teresa and Fr. John A. Hardon have said it would be Adoration and the Eucharist that would end abortion. I haven’t seen an uptick of folks attending myself, but maybe the ones that have continued on, have grown in sincerity. With our being in the 40th year of abortion, it would make “numerical” sense He may react now. Of course, no one knows. Mary has said she would crush the devil under her feet, though; imagine being alive for that!
Is it true your new state motto is: Illinois, where our governors make our license plates? That's funny, and yes I've heard that before.. :)
I may be mistaken, but I thought Id read something, perhaps on FE, on him having recited prayers during ramadan.Well, he was there kneeling toward Mecca, so maybe so? Not good!
http://www.mrctv.org/videos/illinois-governor-does-some-islamic-praying-ramadanMy dear Lord, that brings tears to my eyes. And not in a good way. But what can we expect? I got a b-i-l that is a Chicago cop. He was shot a while back in a drug bust. I pray for him and his young family always, and for the city in general. What a mess.
Absolutely!
