What biblical basis is there for such a stipulation???
///
why does there need to be one?

what did the universal church do,
for the first 2 or 3 hundred years,
before there WAS a collection of books,
called the Bible?
...and even the Bible itself,
makes references to traditions,
and even holy scripture,
that is NOT including in the Bible...

“But in the ‘Indiana Jones’ movie, it was a ceramic cup!”,
///
great point. i admit, i never thought about that before.
being poor, doesn’t mean you can’t have family heirlooms, etc., for special occasions. interesting!

Happy to pass on a new thought! Jesus Himself likely walked around carrying very little, but when he stayed with people, such as at Peter’s home or the home of Martha, Mary, and Lazarus, He would have used the hosts’ dishes. The host of the Last Supper, whoever he was, had a spacious city house, making it highly probable that he also owned a good quality Passover service.

I work for a Priest one day a week. So today, I asked about chalices for you. His answer was as follows: they need only be made out of a material that is NON-porous. Crystal is OK, but not recommended, as if it is dropped, of course it is shattered, but then the Precious Blood is all over the place. Precious metals are preferred, because if they are dropped, they only get at dent in the chalice. Lined with gold is not a requirement. Again, the only requirement is that the material is NON-porous. I hope this helps!

Does anyone else detect the irony of this poster’s request?

Hint: “help me win a bet about what chalice needs to be used so I can remain in the good graces of the Catholic Church”
