How do we know Obama doesn’t?

GG: Who’s Jesus to you?

OBAMA: Right. Jesus is a historical figure for me, and he’s also a bridge between God and man, in the Christian faith, and one that I think is powerful precisely because he serves as that means of us reaching something higher. And he’s also a wonderful teacher. I think it’s important for all of us, of whatever faith, to have teachers in the flesh and also teachers in history. http://blogs.cbn.com/thebrodyfile/archive/2008/06/03/2004-interview-obama-talks-about-jesus-heaven-and-sin.aspx

Unfortunately, you can parse his answer several ways, it doesn’t really clarify. Neither does the rest of the interview.

It’s not the answers I would expect from a strong Christian. But a weak Christian politician might well answer like that.

The rest of the interview reveals that his definition of sin is being out of alignment with his own values, not God’s. It’s the ol’ be true to yourself, that homosexuals use to justify indulging in their most decadent desires.

While scripture says lean not to your own understanding and that man’s heart is inclined to evil and to hide God’s word in your heart to avoid sin.

Based on Obama’s comments and actions, I suspect he is Muslim. But I was just wondering if this article was indicating I had missed something. Apparently not.

That could means that Jesus is a prophet figure, or that he is an avatar. So more unitarian than anything else. The first thing is pretty much the same as the Muslim view, but I suspect he has trouble with the Virgin birth as described in the Koran. Or as taught by liberal rabbis.

Obama’s words about Jesus shows the ideology that Jesus and Mohammed are in the same nature with the Almighty . Islam traces its lineage back to Abraham through Haggar and her son by Abraham, Ishmael. The Christian biblical account is that these persons were cast out of the tent of Abraham. The Christian lineage goes from Jesus back to David and back to Sarah and son Isach. Sarah was the true biblical wife of Abraham. This difference in lineage is what I believe makes it very improbable if not impossible for Islam i.e. Mohammed and Christianity i.e. Jesus to reconcile faiths as well as relations. As to Mormonism I believe that it is a latter date, i.e. 19th century, of another inspired man to claim similar to Mohammed connection to eternity. So with the three religions two are based on and in some mans vision while one is based on belief in a true documented personage who was before any of the other two.
