Daniel's prayer
KJV | 09/26/2012 | GOD;

Posted on 09/26/2012 1:46:47 PM PDT by RichSr

Dan 9:3 And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes: Dan 9:4 And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments; Dan 9:5 We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments: Dan 9:6 Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. Dan 9:7 O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee. Dan 9:8 O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee. Dan 9:9 To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him; Dan 9:10 Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets. Dan 9:11 Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him. Dan 9:12 And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem. Dan 9:13 As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth. Dan 9:14 Therefore hath the LORD watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the LORD our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice. Dan 9:15 And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly. Dan 9:16 O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us. Dan 9:17 Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake. Dan 9:18 O my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies. Dan 9:19 O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.

Its interesting to note that Daniel prayed this prayer as his Nation had forsaken its laws and its heritage and had turned its back against God and was captured by the Babylonian enemy.

But of course this is nothing that concerns us Americans today.

Amos 3:6
If calamity comes to the city, did not God bring it? (9/11)

Not only have we sinned, but we have offered our infants to the god Molech, who demanded human infant sacrifice to appease him. We think because it is a law that there is nothing immoral or corrupt about it.

Homosexuality was strictly banned, a condition that God said he allowed to come about when man’s depravity had reached to the very lowest degree...and we are trying to make it legal.

God’s judgement is coming unless we repent and turn away. 9/11 was a warning, which we heeded very briefly, then we forgot God again. The 2008 market collapse another significant warning. Some response, but never that of repentance. How many more warnings will God give before he allows us to be destroyed? Only God knows that, but our own actions/reactions can delay or hasten the next event, which we know is certain to come. I pray later, rather than sooner, that God remembers mercy and gives us time to repent. However, as patient as He is, it has a limit. God is also just and justice demands that the consequences of our unrepented sin be permitted to take effect.

Personal note to all who may read these.

I use the KJV because of all of the word I believe GOD spoke to me as well as every person who reads Scripture.
There are other places Scripture says not to change or take from HIS words:
Deut 4:2; deut 12:32; Prov 30:6; Josh 1:8; Rev22:18-19.
I may even be in hot water for not using the earliest translation to English. I will therefore be purchasing a Geneva Bible once my Social Security comes in.

Nothing to concern ourselves with?.... Have we ever seen how the hand of GOD moves?
I think we shoud ALL be concerned.

I was fired wrongly once almost 20 yrs ago; the person replacing me met me several years later; this man said the man who fired me lost his thriving business went bankrupt; his brother (partner) had to move/ start over.
They had almost nothing after that.

HE moves in his time and decicevely.

Back to my post. You did see my sarc tag, right? I can explain what that means, if necessary.

You do realize the original texts are Hebrew and Greek, don’t you? There’s nothing particularly holy about the KJV over any other translation. I’m a stickler for accuracy in Scripture and some versions subtly change the meaning in their quest to be modern but there are later versions that take great pains to translate from the original texts in Hebrew and Greek to the best of their abilities.

The English language has changed over the centuries and word meaning has changed. “Gay” once meant “silly” then “light-hearted” then “homosexual” and now also means “lame” or “weak”. Newer translations attempt to clarify the original texts to make them clear to today’s readers so they can best understand what the original parchments mean.

I do realize that.
However; not being fluent in Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, or any of the “forgotten” or “dead” languages, I fall backwanting a “Geneva” and praying that it is the one GOD says is O K for me.
But I am stuck between that hard place and that Rock.

I think that is the reason so many of us are seeking HIS face.

I “grew up” on NASB with some NIV but I bristled at “The Living Bible” which I felt was taking too much liberty. I don’t know Hebrew or Greek but I have a New Testament with the NASB and NIV translations side-by-side with the Greek and a literal word-for-word translation plus a Vine’s expository dictionary that references the Greek word used.

So, if I’m unsure what the word or phrase truly means, I have some resources to dig deeper. Still, the Holy Spirit is often what clarifies God’s word. There’s a veil over His word so those who aren’t supposed to figure it out won’t. More and more, I believe God reveals His word to those who seek and blinds others.

Bless you, sir.

Thank you for the blessing.
I try not to discourage any from reading scripture as ... I try not to judge THE LORD’s ANNOINTED; I just feel the power of HIS word coming through.
My first was a KJV and I was at a Wed Night Service when Gary Cohen spoke.
He was very good and we all started using the NIV; but I felt something was missing. I went back to KJV and was blessed .
I do not fault anyone.
I just feel ... I will be acquiring a Geneva next. I think it may be another blessing.
