A priest molested children?!

This is unheard of.

Most?

What are the others? Seals and sled dogs?

Strip him, cover him in water in the middle of winter and stick his part to a metal flagpole. That will be a good deterrent for anyone else.

“A priest molested children?! This is unheard of.”

No, it’s mostly unheard of if it’s anyone other than a Catholic priest, including a Protestant minister.

Do you normally trust the media? Especially regarding religion?

Can you think of any reasons why the media might be hostile to the Church?

Studies indicate that ministers are slightly more abusive than priests, and govt school teachers are three times worse.

When I say “it’s mostly unheard of”, I’m saying the media is less likely to report abusers who aren’t Catholic priests.

The reason for this is that the Catholic church set up a systematic plan to cover up abuses. When you as a matter of practice hide child molestation, you will remain in the spotlight.

“the Catholic church set up a systematic plan to cover up abuses.”

Untrue. Individual bishops scandalously shuffled abusive priests around, but to describe it as a universal, church-wide plan is erroneous. We must be precise in our language.

In a backhanded way, faithful Catholics are served by the media’s riot over exposing priest perverts.

Exposure - fear and dread - is a deterrent to temptation and cooperation and will clean up the Catholic church. Other churches will go on hosting perverts in secret. Evil flourishes in secret and molesting children, especially boys, is a great tatic for cooperative evil. Evil is weakened and busted in exposure.

So although it’s painful for Catholics to discover, praise God! He’s taking care of the church and the hate filled hyenas of the press are unwitting helpers of God for once.

In truth, homo perverts go wherever they can get access to innocent boys. It’s not limited to the Catholic church but the CC is blessed by God to target, smash it and clean it out. I figure He loves the church to take care of it like this.

I was being very precise in my language. When priests were caught they were not tossed over to the cops. They were transferred to rape elsewhere.

Payments were made when the hierarchy of the Church felt they had no other choice to save themselves.

If that is not a systematic plan, than no one has ever come up with a systematic plan for anything.

How terrible it is to read of his crimes. I am thankful they have caught him. Exposure of evil - forced in this case - heals. Unexposed evil festers and seethes.

“When priests were caught they were not tossed over to the cops.”

Baloney. Priests were turned over and prosecuted many years before 2002.

“In 1981 Father Donald Roemer of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles pleaded guilty to felonious sexual abuse of a minor. The case received widespread media coverage ... in October 1985 ... Louisiana priest Gilbert Gauthe pleaded guilty to 11 counts of molestation of boys.”
-Wikipedia, “Catholic sex abuse cases”

Until the late 60s and 70s, sexual abuse was covered up and treated as a secretive subject all throughout society. I’m tired of the Catholic Church being treated one way on this subject while Protestant churches and the rest of society where the cover-ups are every bit as bad if not worse are treated another way. There are Protestant ministers who abuse in one church and then with help to keep their crimes secret pack their bags up and go abuse somewhere else. The media narrative that cover-ups of sexual abuse is practically a Catholic phenomenon only is ridiculous.

Do you consider ‘protestant churches’ to be legitimate? I keep reading about the Catholic church is the oldest and longest church in existence and has the only keys to the pearly gates.

Congrats on posting a few instances where the police were involved. No doubt this represents less than one percent of the abuses.

All churches and synagogues have their scum. The Catholic Church is the only one set up as a network and hierarchy. They are the only one that as a matter of policy covered it up and transferred rapists.

Hopefully it is better, now.

“Do you consider ‘protestant churches’ to be legitimate?”

That’s a different debate. I’m just saying the problem of child abuse in churches is not restricted to the members of Catholic Church. I consider “protestant churches” Christian Churches, but I think the Fullness of the Truth resides in the Catholic Church.
