During his installation, the new shepherd apologized for his DUI arrest, as protesters and supporters marked the arrival of the states leading proponent of Prop. 8.
SAN FRANCISCO Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone was installed Oct. 4 as the ninth archbishop of San Francisco during a solemn and subdued ceremony that drew more than 40 episcopal leaders and 250 local clergy.
Outside the cathedral, a small group of protesters known as the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence men dressed as women religious marked the occasion with media interviews attacking the new archbishops strong public opposition to same-sex marriage, while a much larger group of about 100 well-wishers, organized by the Neocatechumenal Way, celebrated his arrival with signs applauding his stand.

Renewal doesn’t have anything to do with doctrine or teachings. It has to do with the spiritual renewal of
one’s relationship with God through the Lord Jesus Christ.
It doesn’t even have to do with morality. It has to do
with committing oneself to renewal in the Word of God. (The Bible has teachings everyone who doesn’t make excuses can understand.) Renewal in one’s spirit through the Word of God then produces adherence to moral teachings. You start renewal with yourself and God then begins to work in your spirit.
