But obviously, there ARE people who will completely go off the deep end on this, instead of understanding the difference between THIS description above and people who celebrate it as a religious holiday, even though the VAST majority of people, especially in the USA don't even know it is religious, and there is nothing underlying the activities that would even make someone think it is religious.
In this case, it seems puzzling because the author doesn't seem to be able to (or want to) differentiate between the two, even though he spells out the difference.
Oh, well.
Once again, Jewish Law forbids Jews adopting the religions, rituals, and holidays of other peoples. This is a matter of LAW, not personal opinion.
Regardless of whether "halloween" is religious or not, it is still chuqqat hagoyim and is still forbidden.
Although most people don't know it, Noachide Law also forbids creating new religions or holidays, so such observations as "halloween" are forbidden to non-Jews as well.
