“Faith is a gift of God, but it is also a profoundly free and human act.”
Essentially this means that you can have your cake and eat it too.
This is nothing less than an attempt to make God and His will subject to the limitations of human understanding. God says faith is a gift, but, since it doesn’t seem like it is to us, we are going to choose to call it a “profoundly free and human act.” Now, make no mistake, I do not question the “human” part. Obviously, if God gives you something, it is yours. Otherwise it is not a gift.
However, I do question the “free” part. It is in direct conflict with the plain sense of God’s Word.
I will undoubtedly be attacked on this point. However, I am simply going to believe God’s Word rather than man’s.
