There is a difference between prophesying falsely and making a mistake in interpreting an existing prophecy.
Moreover, metmom, when Hippolytus of Rome was given the ultimatum he chose to die professing Christ rather than renounce Him and live.
You have no excuse for questioning the canonization of a saint who made such a profession. Pray instead that He inspire you with the same grace that He gave Hippolytus.
Lest you be measured as Hippolytus was, and be found wanting.

A false prophet is a false prophet and God has plenty to say about them. And nobody has any excuse for canonizing them. SAINT Paul made it and he was a real problem early on. The Catholic church has been given many gifts by Christ.."whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven....etc, whatsoever you shall bind on Earth shall be bound in Heaven....etc.
Infallability was also guaranteed by Christ and so far, the Church has never given Him a reason to rethink that decision (not that it would be possible)
Jesus was pretty clear in His instructions while He was here and the Catholic Church, alone, takes His admonitions very seriously and keeps His religion free from any error.

They weren’t false prophets because they weren’t claiming to speak for God, just giving an opinion about where things were going, much like 4 or 5 threads do every day on the RF.

Why would somebody who was a false prophet be given the title saint? No true prophet makes false prophecies, and therefore could not be a true saint by leading believers into sin and error. The same way 50% voted for Obama and wrote his 'deathcare' act.

You know why Nostradamus was wrong and is discredited?
Not once did he predict any Superbowl games. Not once.
There you go.
