I’m not so sure they’ll realize the damage they’ve done. The Catholics I know who love Obama believe they are the sophisticated ones, unlike the silly bleating pro-lifers who ‘only care for the baby before it’s born’, and those religious nuts who truly believe that the Bible teaches against homosexuality. Those ‘upper class’ Catholics believe that the people who live in “Jesusland”, mostly in the South, of course, are a bunch of hayseeds, and they do NOT want to be associated with them.
Oh yes ... I know them far too well. That mindset matches with the pope's admonition in this week's Wednesday address: "The practical atheism of those who say they are Christian but live as if God does not exist is a greater threat than actual atheism".
