Looking Back at Election Day
Catholic New York ^ | 11/15/12 | Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan

Posted on 11/20/2012 6:56:57 AM PST by marshmallow

Lord, To Whom Shall We Go?

The 2012 campaign is over, and the dust is settling.

After asking me how our recovery from Hurricane Sandy is going, most folks these days then inquire about how I think “the Church did” on election day.

Such a question usually triggers a mini-catechism lesson from me, as I reply that, actually, “the Church” wasn’t on the ballot, and the election was hardly a referendum on “the Church.” The Church, I go on, was founded by the one who stated that “My kingdom is not of this world,” and whose members consider the statement of St. Paul, “We have our true citizenship in heaven,” as inspired by God. The Bible’s caution, “Put not your trust in princes,” would today probably be rendered, “Put not your trust in politicians.”

All true enough, and, in a genuine way, this attitude gives us a benign indifference to politics and elections. We “seek first the Kingdom of God,” not the power and platforms of worldly politics.

But this “indifference” is tempered by the fact of faithful citizenship. We are, as a matter of fact, very concerned about matters in this world, precisely because God has revealed truths about the human person that have serious implications for people of faith. So, yes, while we are much more passionate about heaven than earth, about the teachings of Jesus and His Church than the platforms of any party or the promises of any candidate, we do have a duty to bring the values of faith to the political process.

Did we, Tuesday a week ago?

The data is still coming in, and will be months in arriving and being interpreted. But, once again, it seems as if “we won some, we lost some.”

One issue of deep concern to Catholics and many........

Scripture says the Lord can always bring good from evil. Well, he has plenty to work with.

“It gets touchy when we try to analyze the presidential election with the lens of faith.”

And this, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, is why Catholics think they can vote for the most radical abortionist to ever sit in the White House.

from the article:
• I worry that the Democrats have gone from wanting to keep abortion “safe, legal, and rare” to the party that wants abortion at every stage of pregnancy, with no defense at all of the baby in the womb, completely funded by the government.

What, King Barry just broke this news to him at the last Al Smith dinner? Everyone has known this about the democrat fascists since at least the eighties. I guess it's only when the "official" platform documents move a comma or drop an adjective that he notices. I wonder if he noticed the majority of the delegates voting down any mention of God or if the platform still having a mention in the documentation made him blind to that reality?

My opinion of this guy is fading fast.

"What took you so long? "

There was a chance he would finally admit to himself we're in a war and it's pretty clear he's not going to. So it didn't take long at all, certainly not "so long", just since his promotion. Besides, given the fact that the rabidly anti-Catholic idiots who troll through FR from time to time hate him I'd give him at least a year before I wrote him off completely.

Two things are becoming clear, though, one, he's so anxious to forgive and forget that he's incapable of offering effective resistance to those he should be resisting, and two, while he's been willing to ruffle feathers in the past, he seems to think he shouldn't do so in his new position.

He may yet turn around but at this point I'm not betting on it.

I had written him off at least as far back as his election to the head of the USCCB. While he is an improvement over his predecessor, there were more conservative bishops who were also in the running. Their losing to Dolan told me that the USCCB wasn't moving as far right as some would hope, and that Dolan would soon out himself as being a political insider and a moderate at best.

He talks a good game, but IMO this election proved that Dolan is in need of a bigger backbone. Legendary NY archbishop John Joseph Hughes didn't have a problem with stepping into New York City politics by organizing protests and petitions against the local government, and telling parishioners who they should vote for and against by name. Dolan lacks the conviction to stand in his predecessor's shoes.

I know what you mean about him at the USCCB but there were times I really couldn't tell whether it was the majority who were nuts and he couldn't get around them on some things or if he was in league with them.

I think it was in, “Trojan Horse in the City of God” by Dietrich von Hilderbrand(sp?), I'm not sure, but something I was reading last month pointed out that there is a very subtle form of corruption people can fall prey to by comparing things to the amoral/immoral society they're in rather than comparing everything to the unchanging standards they should use. I think that's what a lot of people have fallen in to without realizing it and Dolan may be among them.

At any rate, that's what I think he should be doing, pointing out that the standards being used for various comparisons are all out of whack and so far I don't see him doing that.

We can not wait for 2014 and 2016 to regroup and figure out new strategies. By then it will be too late. The Marxist/Muslim usurper will have completed his planned distruction of America.
That’s what people fail to understand.

Col Allen West; “I don’t want to see America become like Zimbabwe where people don’t trust their electoral process. If we cannot trust the integrity of the voting system then we are no longer a free republic.

Col West has opened the door.
It’s now up to We The People.

Silence in the face of evil is itself evil. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.

.
Polls indicated that Romney was going to win the election. The economy is close to Great Depression era conditions, and unemployment is almost as high as when Obama entered office. Economic conditions became so dire after Obama took office it prompted the rise of an entire new movement, the Tea Party.
Presidents rarely win reelection when the economy is in the tank.
So how did Romney lose a race that numerous reputable polls and pundits predicted would be an easy win, based on historical patterns?
Massive voter fraud.

There are massive reports of criminal activity
(not mischief, not shenanigans, as many term the fraud- but CRIMINAL ACTIVITY) going on all over the U.S during the presidential election.
Reports of machines changing votes from Romney to Obama, eyewitness reports of Republican poll watchers who observed busloads of non-English speaking Somalians in Ohio being instructed to vote Obama- the list is endless.

Romney lost because of this, not any other reason.
Nobody could have won against the fraud planned and perpetrated by the Obama Machine.

The evidence is overwhelming!
