Sorry, but your reference to Mathew 7:13 has a possible interpretation of excluding “Mainstream” Christianity.

the reference to “ straight is the Gate, and Narrow the Way, and few there be that find it”.

“Few” is hardly a definition of “main stream” Christianity which does and has encompassed much of the European population of the earth for two thousand years.

Many who call themselves “Christians” may not be Christians as we believe. Catholics refer to themselves as Christians, however, I’ve always just considered them Catholics. The term Catholic actually means universal. They too, have some erroneous teachings, but do not deny the Son. They place too much emphasis on Mary, in my opinion.

Few is a relative word. Since those words were spoken many many many years have passed. Today Christians are less than a major percentage of believers. Many say they are Christians that never go to church, pray, read the Word or tell others about their faith.

This Scripture spoken by Jesus Christ means what it says, Possible interpretations aside. We have had those arguments from the first, hence the many beliefs ... largely due to Satan's deceptions and beguilement, and temptations.

Today the (many) translations of Scriptures take many liberties in my opinion. Which results in confusion.

Name any subject, rapture, salvation, Jesus Christ, immaculate conception, divinity of Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Trinity. Each can be researched. How else have we arrived with 350 versions of Christianity in the churches today.

“Man does what is right in his own eyes.” from the last verse of Judges 21:25.

James 1:12-27

King James Version (KJV)

12 Blessed is the man that endures temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempts he any man:

14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

15 Then when lust hath conceived, it brings forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.

17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

20 For the wrath of man works not the righteousness of God.

21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the en grafted word, which is able to save your souls.

22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

24 For he beholds himself, and goes his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

25 But whoso looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridles not his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

God bless America.
