Half of women bishops opponents in Synod were women Almost half of the lay members of the Church of England General Synod who voted down women bishops were themselves women, official voting returns show.
According to a list provided by the Church of England, 33 of the 74 members of the House of Laity who rejected the plan to open the episcopate to women were female.
Womens campaigners rounded on them calling their stance ridiculous arguing that those who believe in the idea of male headship should have followed the male leaders of the Church and voted in favour.
They also claimed that there had been a deliberate political strategy by traditionalists to put up female candidates to the Synod likely to appeal to unsuspecting Church parishioners.
The row erupted as the Churchs powerful Archbishops Council prepares to meet to discuss how to find a fast-track solution to what now amounts to a constitutional crisis in the established Church.
It is understood that they will even be discussing radical suggestions to circumvent the General Synod and ask Parliament to use its powers to impose women bishops with the full backing of the Church leadership.

How dare they think for themselves!
How dare they have opinions contrary to radical feminazi’s!
This cannot be allowed!
They must be exposed and stripped of their female dignity and ridiculed!
You must agree with the hive or else!
The more they tighten their grip, the more star systems will slip through their fingers. :)

And that about sums it up. Good for those women who support the male-only bishop rule(although to be consistent, they should support the male-only priest rule also).
Oh, this is rich. "Be a feminist! Submit!"
Oh, Lordy, even better: "T'hell with Sensus Fidei! T'hell with Vox Populi! Let's just get the State to tell us what to do!"
Ah. There's the crux of it. 'Authority.' These bishopess-supporters think it's personal authority that carries the day: when I thought (or am I just being anachronistic?) that the purpose of a General Synod was to discern the way things should be by God's authority.
They've got their Heilige Geist mixed up with their Zeitgeist.
The Holy Spirit ain't just whatever's blowin' in the wind...
