The Mayans didn’t account for leap years, so their calendar has already ended.

I wish people would quit with this reasoning. The Mayan calendar was not related whatsoever to the Julian or Gregorian calendars nor the number of days in a year. It followed planetary bodies, solstices and equinoxes. Dec. 21, 2012 is when the winter solstice lines up exactly with the rift in the center of the Milky Way Galaxy. So however long it took this point to progress through the stars and return to its starting position is the Mayan Calendar. It has nothing to do with our modern days, leap years, or any of that. However they sliced up the moments in time in between these solstices is completely irrelevent. This solstice would have been the "big show" for them. Party like it's 1999.

She’s had years of fame? I’ve never heard of her.

when he saves 10 times that, he will buy a little old used tract house in California and retire (so he can be with all his successful former countrymen). his Ark is to take him there

This would actually be a reasonable investment if he lived downriver from the Three Gorges Dam...don’t need to worry about what the Mayans thought when you have the Chinese government building things for the good of the people.

I'm sorry, but I'm not willing to give up reason. The "rift" in the milky way center is actually an absorption nebula, having nothing to do with its center other than apparent close proximity. The sun's path across the ecliptic passes near to it every year around December. This is based only on our own vantage point; there is no alignment or whatever else you wish to call it. Where are you getting this stuff from, anyway? It's pseudoscience, incorrect at best.

That Mayan rock carver might have known what he was talking about. It sure looks like TEOTWAWKI these last couple weeks. That or he ran out of rock.

Doomsday usually starts at 100,000 miles because that is when the big problems start to show up.
