Hegel was german philosopher that distilled conflict can be resolved to the following:

Thesis, anti-thesis and synthesis.

Simplistically, Hegel taught that for every thesis (idea) and its direct antecedent “anti-thesis”, there is a blending of ideas called a synthesis where all parties can agree (or, agree to disagree?) such that the conflict can be resolved.

To Hegel, the church needs to resolve to several shades of gray (synthesis) if there is conflict over strictly black and white conflicts (such as The Resuurection).

My position is that Hegel’s philosophy is the immature teachings of Marxism. Marx took this and applied it to the social ills of his day.

Any LCMS church that appeals to conflict resolution using a form of Hegelian thought is actually promoting Marxism/Communism.

What a great thread. So much wisdom and perspective. A ‘thesis, anti-thesis and synthesis’, ‘go along to get along’ philosophy actually promotes and leads to Marxism/Communism and a loss of Christianity, which also paves the way for the Islamists.

One could accurately say the OP got the “Hegel kicked out of him”.
