‘Cuz we’re supposed to turn the other cheek.

That could be a mistranslation of the original, compounded by a misunderstanding of context. After much prayer and thought I’ve decided self-defense comes first.

Cuz were supposed to turn the other cheek.
This does not mean the LOWER cheeks. A little righteous anger from time to time is entirely justified, when it is coached in Old Testament terms, eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth kind of thing. It is one thing to forgive another for a momentary blaze of anger and lashing out in fury, another thing altogether when the other is maliciously and repeatedly landing blows upon you, thinking you are simply a punching bag.
Something like bringing a bigger gun to a gun fight.

Very succinctly put.
The prevailing wisdom is that the Koran admonishes its followers to not allow any kind of slight. So it's not their fault - they're just adhering to their religion, you insensitive clod. The Holy Bible, however, is viewed to admonish us to, as you said, turn the other cheek, love thy neighbor, and pretty much sit back and take it in the nards.
