The point at which nascent Christianity ceased to attract Jewish followers was the point at which Christian arguments were written down and could be examined.
Until then, a clever speaker could weave endless tales and attract through charisma. Once there were authoritative letters circulating explaining rationales and proof texts, no one conversant with the authentic Torah tradition was interested.
Believers and contributors would have to be henceforth found among non-Jews who were susceptible to Greek idioms and philosophical methods.
It was true then and it’s still true now.
Out of curiosity, I looked it up and found it to be quite low indeed. I doubled the number from the reported 10,000 in 2005 to 20,000 and still it's only about one third of one percent out of a population of roughly six million.
Being a western Christian/gentile, I was totally blown away by such a low number. Knowing that now, does help me better understand certain things/prophecy that have been hard for me to comprehend for some time now.
Peace FRiend,
That reminds me that last week I posted the SNL broadcast where Michael revealed that Nehemia Gordon (a Karaite Jew) has uncovered ancient Hebrew text with the correct genealogy of Yeshua.
To quote Glenn Beck, "The Truth Has No Agenda."
