I celebrate the Feast of the Three Kings, and I take down my Christmas tree afterward. Every feast day holds special meaning, and the traditions behind same must be perpetuated. There is joy in loving God, and celebrating and commemorating these special days. I value my Catholic upbringing and education, and the memories of those days long ago.
This needs to be repeated. Too often, catholics walk around with glum expressions. Joy comes from returning to God some modicum of the love he has for us. Your comment reminded me of a testimony delivered by a Jewish convert, who had a truly extraordinary experience. He wrote:
I saw that my two greatest regrets when I died would be every moment which I had wasted not doing anything of value in the eyes of God, and all of the time and energy which I had wasted worrying about not being loved when every moment of my existence I was bathed in an infinite sea of love, although unaware of it. I saw that the meaning and purpose of my life was to worship and serve my Lord and Master, in whose presence I found myself.

God IS love and we should radiate that love each and every day of our lives.
