I’m sad about all of the above.
I am also sad that so many seem anxious to smear group A with the misdeeds of group B.
Despite the fact that group B withdrew from group A many decades ago and denounces it as a tool of the Devil. And that group A excommunicates those who practice the essential teaching of group B.
As I said before, I’m not a fan of the Mormon Church(es), LDS or (especially) FLDS. But I think each group should be criticized for its own misdeeds rather than those of another group with a similar name and related though distinct teachings.
People have hollered at me similarly when I object to unfair and inaccurate criticism of Muslims. I do NOT object to fair and accurate criticism of Islam or Mormonism. And I think both groups have plenty to criticize that is entirely accurate.
Think of it this way. When the term “Catholic” is used, 99% of the population thinks of the RCC and only of the RCC, though there are other “Catholic” groups.
Assume one of these groups takes up the practice of human sacrifice and headlines all over the world read, “Catholics Perform Human Sacrifice.”
Would that be fair to the RCC or its many non-human sacrificing members around the world?
This is news article about the flds, who refer to themselves as mormon.
This is also an article about how they treat their women and girls, which you did not mention.
That is what I find sad.
I would disagree that the SLC-lds are in disagreement with the flds, I would say they are embarrassed that the flds openly practices what the SLC-lds turn a blind eye too.
In your explanation (thanks by the way), you do not express sadness over the main part of the article, the mistreatment of the women.
That’s what makes me sad.
