Grammys Urge Female Celebs Not to Show Skin Tonight
The Christian Diarist ^ | February 10, 2013 | JP

The 55th Annual Grammy Awards air tonight on CBS. Very much to its credit, the network has struck a blow this year for family viewing by issuing a wardrobe advisory to female attendees encouraging them to dress more like ladies – not named Gaga – and less like wannabe porn stars.

“Please be sure,” the advisory stated, “that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered. Thong type costumes are problematic. Please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack.”

And this: “Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic. Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples. Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so there is no visible ‘puffy’ bare skin exposure.”

Yes. That’s how detailed the advisory had to be to deter female vulgarians attending tonight’s Grammys from prancing down the red carpet – or even appearing on stage – wearing next to nothing, for all the world to see.

As a Christ follower, I’ve long been offended that the Grammys have aired on Sundays, the Lord’s Day. For only woman under demonic influence – like Mary Magdalene, from whom Christ cast out some seven demons – would display themselves in the manner of some of the women who’ve made Grammy infamy.

Like R&B artist Rihanna who, at last year’s Grammy’s, wore a black dress designed to exposing the bare sides of her breasts.

And Lady Gaga, who in 2010 performed on stage at the Grammys in a thong type costume that inadequately covered her genitalia area.

And Toni Braxton, a forerunner of Rihanna, who in 2001 wore a white dress, and absolutely nothing underneath, with cut outs in the front, back and sides.

And Jennifer Lopez, who in 2000 got the Grammys annual skin fest started, by stepping out in that notorious Versace dress that clearly revealed the under curvature of her breast, much to the cheap thrill of male oglers that attended Grammys in person and those that watched at home.

I’m not a fan of CNN – my tastes run to FOX News – but I think Erin Burnett was right on this past Thursday when she closed her nightly CNN show by calling out Lady Gaga and other exhibitionist female celebrities.

“There certainly is a difference,” said Miss Burnett, “between sexy and sexual.”

And, I might add, women who walk with the Lord, who present their bodies each day as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, know well that difference.

Blessed are the attractive young female entertainers who “generate” buzz by using their God-given talents to the fullest, and not by dressing themselves up like harlots.

I heard on Fox news this morning, celebs at this awards show get a “swag bag” full of gifts worth $21,000.

$21,000 for what? Preening infront of cameras and slaping each other on the back for being “entertainers?

I’m sure the IRS is all over it. /s/

Won’t watch.

Tired of seeing these people break their arms patting themselves on the back for something that is not worth watching or paying to watch (movies)....

Yikes. Remember the good old days when people had common sense and the "dress code" was merely "skirt hems no more than 3 inches above the knee and no sleeveless blouses"?

Frankly, the Grammys executives shouldn't have to worry about this problem when it is clearly within the purview of the Obama administration. Instead, the government must intervene and immediately create and enforce uniform dress codes for all such events. PSAs are needed to address this crisis right now.

I wonder if the Beyonce mess at the Super Bowl had anything to do with this. She was beyond gross - disgusting - pathetic. And that’s what the libs are saying, after they had to spend two weeks excusing her lip-synching at the inauguration.

What, you didn’t find her costume and demeanor as demur, ladylike, and appealing?

Can’t remember who said it, but someone said she Beyonce looked like she was dressed for the bedroom not the stage.

I’m actually a little heartened to read this article. If CBS, arguably one of the more agenda driven, leftist, media outlets is worried about modesty, for whatever reason, tells me enough folks are speaking up.
The Super Bowl, from its commercials to the halftime show was decidedly an adult theme. Mayhap a number folks complained and CBS, who did the Bowl this year, is reacting. I found the Go Daddy commercial to be very offensive, something more akin to cable than prime time TV. And I am not a prude..

"Go ahead show as much skin as you like or shake that bootie. I'll still be the cutest girl at the Grammys."

Re GoDaddy ad.

Yes, disgusting.
It took 45 takes. Two versions were rejected as too over the top to put on air.
However, it resulted in a one-day sales record for GoDaddy.

The thing that gets me is all the years of hogwash in various media about women wanting men to take them seriously as something other than sex objects. All the while, role models for women stripped themselves down more and more until now they're stripped down like slaves on the auction block. Then the other day I ran across an article with a group of younger women complaining that guys their age aren’t interested in any long term relationship, even living together.

Obviously the "well educated career women" in the article don't want to admit the obvious.

When something is heavily marketed and includes extensive limitations and escape clauses in the sales contract to the point that the purchased owns the purchaser, it's not long before rentals and short term leases far outnumber outright purchases.

It makes me sad, because these women have all the beautiful clothes in the world available to them, yet they think they will attract positive attention only if their nipples or “underside buttocks curvature” are visible.

I have three daughters whose constant outfit is jeans and nerdy t-shirts. (ThinkGeek.com is a favorite source.) Yes, it’s modest enough, but I often tell them, “Imagine how pretty you would look if you put on a skirt and a blouse ... why, that very skirt and blouse hanging in your closet!”

It seems there’s no middle ground between clothes appropriate for yardwork and clothes appropriate for prostitution: no such thing as just “looking nice” or “looking pretty.”

". . . because these women have all the beautiful clothes in the world available to them, . . .

Really. I followed a link here on FR not long ago and the site it went to had all kinds of smaller pictures with captions down the right side. As I recall they were all celebrity related and one had a caption about someone spending $80,000 for her "gown". There was nothing to it, just enough to her from not being naked and half of what was there as semitransparent. I didn't read the article, so maybe it had jewels in it or something, but still, $80k and she may as well have worn a couple of scarves stitched together?

When I see things like that I think about how happy my wife, daughter, and grand daughter, would be if I could give each one of them each 1/10 of that for a clothing shopping spree all at once.

It would be like having $25 and being first in the door when The Salvation Army store opens on half-price day!
