I might recommend these to the Pope:

The Pre-Republic Kings of Rome wore red shoes as an
insignia. Julius Caesar started wearing red shoes during his dictatorship, leading Rome to speculate that he saw himself as their king. I don't recall whether the emperors following Caesar kept up the practice, but I'm sure that is the origin of the Papal tradition.

Thank you for your home page ...
It deserves a thread of its own.

No, sometimes it’s better for people not to know the details immediately. That prevents a revelation from being manipulated...or resulting in something that is very common in the Protestant world, with people being freaked out and standing on their rooftops waiting for the Apocalypse. This has happened many times in US Protestantism, and was then followed by those same people filing lawsuitsto get back the properties they had given away, thinking the end of the world was coming.
What this prophecy says is that seriously bad times are coming. But we all knew that anyway, and anybody who couldn’t read the signs of the time was probably too dumb to understand a prophecy anyway.

I’m sure there’s some deep significance to all of this but it just seems to elude me.
When asked how many pairs of loafers he had the Pope said most of the people working for him.

I have never seen anyone confuse little weird cults with “US Protestantism”.
Is that what immigration has done?

Wow, don’t these people have anything better to do? The man is sick. Our Pastor told us he’s nearly blind and emaciated. What difference does it make what he wears? I thank him for his service to the Church.

I too not only thank Pope B16 for his service to the Church.
I am very impress he was able to get 3 books out on the life and times of Jesus. They are very deep reads. Doing the writing must have taken its toll on him.

The White House and “Hail to the Chief” aren’t in the Constitution, but they are part of American heritage. I’m glad scripture doesn’t have excruciating details on this. If the Church wants to handle the costume question by saying, “well, what did we do the last time this issue came up?” that’s just being practical, and in some cases, even charming, if the custom is old enough and quirky enough.

The shoes your pastor wears are prescribed in Scripture? Really?

"Secret conclaves" arose to keep outsiders from influencing what went on. Like, you know, buying votes and stuff. Like how Obama got elected.
"Regnal names" started when a Pope was elected whose given name was identical to that of a Roman pagan god ("Mercurius"). He thought that was an inappropriate name for a Pope.
You got me on the white smoke.

THIS IS WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS!!
If you don't look like that, you're seriously back-slidden, brother!
(Cough, cough.) It's not prescribed in Scripture. (Permit me a tiny eye-roll. Where's you get that idea??!)
The only NT couture and fashion directives I can think of offhand are from Paul, viz: no long hair for the guys (a little puzzling because Jesus is always portrayed with long hair... but not the Approved Model pictured above!); and women, wear head veils. I think he also said no braids, pearls, or gold on the women. (OK on the men?)
I'm curious, FReeper/lurker Christian women! How many wear head veils?
