To be clear, I agree, but it is a really poor argument to present to someone who doesn't.

But since FACTs tend to show that more people are influenced by opinion than fact anyway; then percentage wise, it is a good argument.

That is quite true. In fact, there is excellent data showing that people largely base their opinion as to the truth of a statement on the intensity with which the person telling them shows that HE believes it. Thus the eternal story of the fanatic gathering followers, the cult leader, etc.

There are many accounts of nurses and doctors being drawn into a paranoid schyzo’s fantasies, helping him escape from the loony bin, etc. NOBODY believes what he says more intensely than a paranoid schyzo. Which makes him very convincing to many people.
