FATHER Matthew Despard says sexual misconduct is rife throughout the church and a "powerful gay mafia" bully and intimidate other priests.

A SERVING priest has accused the Catholic Church in Scotland of covering up a culture of sexual bullying by a powerful gay mafia.

Father Matthew Despard, 48, says sexual misconduct has been rife in junior seminaries, where priests are trained, for decades.

And he claims that when he alerted Church authorities to inappropriate sexual conduct, nothing was done.

Fr Despard, the parish priest of St John Ogilvie church in High Blantyre, Lanarkshire, says he fears for the future of his Church if no action is taken to end the scandal.

He has taken the difficult decision to publish a book on his experiences, Priesthood in Crisis.

Yesterday, he admitted he had struggled with his conscience before going ahead with publication.

The book was first written in 2010 but he self-published it on Amazon’s Kindle store last week in the wake of the resignation of Cardinal Keith O’Brien.

In the bombshell book, Fr Despard writes: “My concern is that if we don’t face up to what is happening in reality, the Church will suffer enormous damage.

There is no way to verify the information put forth in this book. That being said all of it or none of it may be true.

My question is this..what is this priest’s motivation for writing this? and what is going to be done with the proceeds of this sordid tale? If his true desire is to help the Catholic Church, is more public scandal in the form of a book the best way? or does it merely fuel the flames of hatred and prejudice felt toward Catholicism... Surely there must be a better way.

Seems like the gays pretty much ruin everything that they come into contact with.

His motivation does not matter.

Luke 8:17

If what I suspect is in fact true, exposure, though very very painful, is required to fulfill Christ's promise to Peter.

Luke speaks the truth. It WILL become known, and either it will be revealed by the Church or by processes aimed at destroying the Church.

This far-fetched tale of Fr. Despard (note French name) can hardly be true of the Roman Catholic situation in Caledonia.

Unless comely merino ewes are allowed full run of Scottish Seminaries, I am sure no sexual conduct appropriate or otherwise, is taking place within them.

As a matter of scientific fact, sex is unknown in Scotland except for a few days in August. Even then, the species involved are unclear.

No Frenchified Papist can be allowed to promulgate, propagate, and disseminate these vile and unsubstantiated rumours. Sex in Scotland? don't be daft. If true, there would probably be more of the haggis-scarfing, bag-piping, ouisgebaugh-quaffing, skirt-wearing, oatmeal sustained natives.

He’s right. The Church has to go after the queers and get them out. If they are sexually harassing or raping priests, it’s beginning to look like Sodom; hosting homosexuals who demand that angels be raped.

No Catholic official should deny or excuse homosexual aggression against boys or men and especially not against Priests! Letting homos get away with this sexual aggression is acting as part of the crime.

Homos should not be offials in the church.
