According to canon law it is a rule. Unfortunately, some of today’s bishops interpret it as a suggestion.

I’m sorry that you’re experiencing this, too. It’s been making my heart easy so I understand your disappointment.
And you’re right, the GOP’s great undoing is its lack of moral clarity. Very well said...thank you!

Unfortunately, some of todays bishops interpret it as a suggestion.Exactly. What evidence do we have that any of them care about it at all (outside of the occasional outlier)?

The big shift got a huge bolt under Clinton. TV programming started pushing homosexuality and Christian bashing big time. Think back to the television shows of the 50s and 60s and look at the utter filth that exists now. I honestly do not know if we can recover as a society.

A large part of the “Arts” community believes that part of their job is to shock or provoke. The media believe this too. This means they have to continually elevate the shock value to top previous levels. There is no end to the depravity in sight.

"And, if we are honest, heterosexual misbehavior and confusion has been largely responsible for bringing forth the even deeper confusion and disorder of homosexual activity, and particularly the widespread approval of it."Sadly true, but well said.

Heh, have you seen the Manhattan Declaration's answer to that? It's an equal sign superimposed on the the image of a baby in utero, and asks, "So you want to talk about equality?"

I am shocked at how many of my conservative friends and family are just fine with gay marriage. Too many, deep down, don't want to be thought ill of by their friends, their co-workers, whatever. They 'go along to get along', kinda like Repubs in Congress.
It's hard to stand against popular culture, and people don't like being constantly berated by everyone around them, so they either shut up about it, or go along with it. I've been 'unfriended' by a couple of family members, because of comments I've made regarding personhood for the unborn, but that's the way it goes. I still express my opinion, when I believe it might influence, but keep it to myself when it's clear I won't change opinions, just make folks angry to the point where they'll NEVER listen to the opposite notion. Just gotta pick your battles.
