...he said, admitting the real total number of believers was probably much higher than the official estimate of 100 million.

Yeah, the threat of being shot or getting a beat down with rifle butts probably has an inhibiting effect on your polling. Just guessing.

"Religion has been around for a very long time, and if we rush to try to push for results and want to immediately 'liberate' people from the influence of religion, then it will have the opposite effect and push people in the opposite direction."

Funny how they are so much more polite about it than Obama's thugs.

The state can never convince the people to kill all the other unwanted/unneeded/undesired/too costly/too old/too ideologically opposed people and even themselves, if the people believe there is a higher power than the state and that the higher power has laws against the killing of those people. Nor, can the state be worshiped, when the state is not to be believed to be a god. Nor, can people make themselves a god, when they believe in True God.

China is struggling to get its estimated 100 million religious believers to banish superstitious beliefs about things like sickness and death

They shouldn't have broadcast their intentions. It brings bad luck.

I am pretty sure there are far more than 100 million religious people in China.

Could get interesting. Russia’s supporting Christianity and China’s doubling down on atheism.
