I've seen an elaborate old Victorian genealogy of my surname, taking it back from Exeter in southwest England to Wales, from Wales to Ireland, from Ireland to “Milesia” (Iberian Peninsula), from Milesia to Scythia, and so on walking back through the begats to Japheth, son of Noah.

It was virtually certain to be fanciful, they were popular among strivers and upwardly mobile Victorians. But, it is interesting that geneticists are discovering an Iberian element in the genetic heritage of Celtic peoples.

So, maybe it's fanciful but undergirded with a basic truth? I don't know.
