Dave Hunt, an apologist, best-selling author, speaker and radio commentator, died April 5 with his wife, Ruth, at his side. He was 87.

Noted for his research on cults, the occult and New Age doctrines, which began creeping into the church during the 1980s, Hunt was renowned for his controversial 1985 best-seller, The Seduction of Christianity (Harvest House Publishers), which he co-authored with T.A. McMahon.

A prolific author of more than 40 books with at least 4 million copies sold, many translated into 50 languages, Hunt's other titles include Yoga and the Body of Christ; A Woman Rides the Beast; and Debating Calvinism: Five Points, Two Views. Hunt founded The Berean Call, an apologetics ministry, in 1992.

He also wrote two novels: The Mind Invaders (formerly The Archon Conspiracy) and Sanctuary of the Chosen. Additionally, Hunt wrote a children's book, The Money Tree, with his daughter Karen. His videos include Israel, Islam & Armageddon and A Woman Rides the Beast. Hunt also hosted two radio program, Search the Scriptures Daily and According to God's Word.

"Dave's bold yet loving approach to discern and then deliver the truth is evident in everything he did," The Berean Call website said. "His love for Jesus, for Israel and for people in general was obvious to all. His enthusiasm for the truth, along with his anger over the sin and wickedness that he knew was robbing people of what God wanted for them, flamed his desire to share the Lord with anyone with whom he had contact."

Hunt is survived by his wife of 63 years. A private burial service was held, and Hunt will remembered during the summer Bible conference of The Berean Call Aug. 23-24 in Bend, Ore.

A real loss there, his books are some of my favorites. Very to the point today.

The headline should read “Dave Hunt, noted anti-Catholic bigot, dies”

To consider him Anti-Catholic is to miss the forest looking at a tree. His books are hard hitting against the Present day Apostate Protestant church too.

A Look at Dave Hunt, Leading Anti-Catholic Fundamentalist
Fundamentalist: A term created during the turn-of-the-20th-century Protestant church splits to define those who held to the “fundamentals” of Christianity—the inerrancy of the Bible, the virgin birth of Jesus and his literal resurrection from the dead. The term is now considered pejorative. (Wheaton College philosophy professor Alvin Plantinga famously observed, “The full meaning of the term...can be given by something like ‘stupid sumbitch whose theological opinions are considerably to the right of mine.’)

May God have Mercy on his soul. At least now he knows the Truth about the Church Christ built.

I’ve been called a fundamentalist Catholic and a Taliban Catholic. I know the meaning of the term, thanks.

How about that famous or rather infamous Catholic radio personality, Father Coughlin? The one who broadcast that Jews would face a far worse fate in the US than they did in Germany? Is he in Heaven?

Is he even worthy of the condemnation you’ve heaped upon this recently deceased man?

I wasn’t aware this thread was about a deceased priest. Regardless I’m sure that priest laments his errors too if by the Grace and Mercy of God he attained eternal salvation.

I see. He was no anti-anything bigot, though?

But the topic of the thread is.

Interesting.

Oh great. Another 300+ post Catholic v. Protestant brick throwing contest, with only God’s glory being bloodied.

Maybe you could post a separate thread about the priest you’re concerned about and discuss his bigotry. Would that make you happy? Why is anti-Semitism more offensive to you than the anti-Catholicism of the subject of this thread?

Interesting.

How about if us Catholics post threads praising a priest like Fr. Coughlin? He was a notorious anti-Semite. Would that be better or worse than posting a thread praising the work of a notorious anti-Catholic?

I found immediate partisan honking in condemnation of a man barely in his grave offensive and provided a counterpoint. Is that difficult to follow?

Maybe a new thread is appropriate. Thank you for the suggestion.
