“Love the Church?”
Is the Church the Body of Christ or not?
I believe the Pope is referring to church as the Roman Catholic Church when speaking to the nuns. Too often the liberal religious congregations have forgotten entirely that to be a good Christian you must first embrace the Lord Jesus as Saviour and must be repentant of your sins. Liberals seem to forget that sins exist as it makes them uncomfortable to speak of it, lest someone might think you are being judgemental and intolerant. As a Christian one of our callings to evangelization is to convict the world of sin and the need for Jesus’s saving grace.
However, the term, the “Christian Church” or “the Body of Christ” can also refer to the entire legion of Christians throughout the world. So, I suppose Pope Francis’s word may seem to be unreasonable, but they are not considering his audience.
