You are My Rod for I AM your STAFF
The Joshua Chronicles , Bible ^ | 5-27-13 | Jedediah

You are my Rod (of Obedience) for I AM your Staff ( of Authority)

What worked for you yesterday,

Will not work for you today ,

Come to me in the early morning that My WORD may light your path ,

For in it lies my will in peace where you will find NO wrath ,

So cover yourself in My Zeal for it is the fire that will lead the way ,

As I did for the Israelites I will do for you each day !

For my Fire guides your morning and shall be your eyes at night ,

As My love fills your path with My delight ,

Allow Me to be your shade in the heat of the day ,

For I can stop the planets as I did for Joshua to find victory My way !

So bring Me all the Glory for in it we all share ,

You will find My Kingdom and Authority as you lay down your heart before me bare ,

So pick up this ROD of Obedience each day ,

And My spirit and Authority will make your way ~ ~ ~

Exodus 13:21 The Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night.

1 Samuel 17:20 So David rose up early next morning, left the sheep with a keeper, took the provisions, and went, as Jesse had commanded him. And he came to the encampment as the host going forth to the battleground shouted the battle cry. Joshua 10:12-14 12 Then Joshua spoke to the Lord on the day when the Lord gave the Amorites over to the Israelites, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, be silent and stand still at Gibeon, and you, moon, in the Valley of Ajalon! 13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the nation took vengeance upon their enemies. Is not this written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of the heavens and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day.

14 There was no day like it before or since, when the Lord heeded the voice of a man. For the Lord fought for Israel.

Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Isaiah 59:17 17 For [the Lord] put on righteousness as a breastplate or coat of mail, and salvation as a helmet upon His head; He put on garments of vengeance for clothing and was clad with zeal [and furious divine jealousy] as a cloak.

Ephesians 6:14-17 14 Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God,

15 And having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace.

16 Lift up over all the [covering] shield of saving faith, upon which you can quench all the flaming missiles of the wicked [one].

17 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God.

I AM your Staff

Clean the bathroom and wash my truck.

What worked for you yesterday,
Will not work for you today ,

Pick me up some new batteries.

Come to me in the early morning that My WORD may light your path ,

I guess that'll have to do, since the batteries in the flashlight died.

So cover yourself in My Zeal for it is the fire that will lead the way ,

Tyvek and Nomex required.

For my Fire guides your morning and shall be your eyes at night ,

Pick up an extra pack of batteries, I don't quite trust you with open flames.

Allow Me to be your shade in the heat of the day ,

Lay off the donuts and seek out Jenny Craig.

For I can stop the planets

Please don't.

Blaspheme much?

I hate to break it to you, but brer Jedediah is NOT the Almighty.

He writes these things in the first person, they are his pronouncements.

Perhaps he aspires to be a prophet.

Regardless, I don't buy what he's selling. He does not speak for God.

If I'm wrong, I'll go burn in hell.

Until then, he's fair game for mockery.

Okay HG. What say ye Jedediah. Are you a prophet wannabe? Are you making this stuff up on the fly? You speaking for God? From whence come your pronouncements?

“He does not speak for God.”

I can’t believe I’m agreeing w humblegunner.

Well maybe it’s not so remarkable. I’ve agreed w him in the past, & even said as much. It happens.

Here’s an apt verse:

1 Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.

James 3.

When someone posts a personal, inspirational poem on the religion forum, mockery seems inappropriate. If this was in announcements or breaking news, then sure. But it is not.

humblegunner is an online gunner who is not so humble really.

Did you get kicked out of the family BBQ and feel compelled to take it out on a fellow Freeper?

“When someone posts a personal, inspirational poem on the religion forum, mockery seems inappropriate.”

Correct.

How about if that is ALL he posts, ALWAYS presuming to speak for God?

Do you accept that Jed speaks for God?

No. I don’t presume so.

In my opinion, the best response if someone is promoting false teaching is to make that case respectfully rather than just making insults. Otherwise I just ignore them.

Mockery is appropriate, again in my opinion, if someone posted something like this in breaking news or engaged in an argument directly with you or sent you an unsolicited ping.

I’m just saying a person is entitled to his views and feelings even if the majority of people get nothing out of what he shares.

Personally, I tend to be a bit skeptical of prophetic, healing and miracle claims. Whether they are real or not does not depend on me being convinced. But if it helps someone keep their spirits up through difficult days like these, then more power to them.

That was almost, like, poetry ... especially this line:

Pick up an extra pack of batteries, I don't quite trust you with open flames.

Most of it is iambic pentameter, and the variance at the end, "/op-en / FLAMES," gives the point a subtle kick.

Jedediah regularly posts this drivel.

Lots of words that don’t say anything.

As far as it being *prophecy* it’s so vague as to be meaningless and it’s “safe” in that it’s so vague that nobody can tell if it’s been fulfilled or not so if you point out that he’s a false prophet, he will deny it.

Besides, WE are not the *staff*.

Psalm 23 says that God’s rod and staff will guide us. There’s simply no basis for claiming that we are the rod of obedience.

If you read his stuff you’ll see that the sentences don’t even SAY anything. It’s like someone put words through a random word generator.

Problem is, if they are not real, they are from the enemy, sent to deceive.

I can't say more power to them just because someone feels better after hearing it. People can get the warm fuzzies from lots of stuff that is not from God.

"Problem is, if they are not real, they are from the enemy, sent to deceive."

"John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone[ casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him, because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not stop him; for no one who does a deed of power in my name will be able soon afterward to speak evil of me. Whoever is not against us is for us. For truly I tell you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you bear the name of Christ will by no means lose the reward." - Mark 9:38-41

Peace be with you

That is sometimes true. There are deceivers and false teachers, etc.

There are also great Bible teachers who occasionally make mistakes here and there. That does not mean they are enemies.

Likewise, there are Apollos’s who need to be instructed in the ways of God more fully.

Then there are those who preach the gospel with bad motives. Paul said some did so to make things worse for him in prison. He was not talking about false teachers. Paul rejoiced that the gospel was preached even though their motives were wrong. If they were preaching something false he would not have rejoiced.

The bottom line is that the church is made up of believers with plenty of flaws. But God designed the body so that every part is needed and serves a purpose. We are not in a hurry to chop off our own hand when it gets cut or bruised. Rather we bandage it and try to get it to heal. Only in the most extreme cases would we part with our hand in order to save our life. And doing so would be a cause for great grief.

Today, Christians do not understand this. They are quick to cut eachother off over minor issues.

Based on I Corinthians 10-14, it is very possible that God has entrusted to other believers we cross paths with the answers to imprtant issues and prayers for our health, financial needs, family troubles, etc. He may be waiting for that believer to pray for you. He may be waiting for you to pray for him.

I cannot prove this absolutely, but I am personally convinced there are some things God will not do in our lives until we pray, and also there are some things He will not do until some other believer prays for us. Otherwise why would we need the intercession of other believers? They are not mediators between us and God. God wants us to see our need for other believers so we can learn to show them the compassion and love Christ has. So shall we be His disciples, and so shall the world know we are His and He is real.

It is our carnal tendencies that are quick to judge other believers when we have not even taken the time to pray for them, gently encourage them, find out if we can help them in some way, or meekly correct them when it is appropriate and we have earned the right to do so.

If you read some of my comments on Mary worship, praying to dead saints, idolatry in the name of Christ and other biblical issues, you will see I am not afraid to stand up against false doctrine when important issues are at stake. But how we treat other believers is more important than protecting our sacred cows.

Discerning the difference is a mission critical task.
