Yoga is a form of physical exercise, meant to limber up the body and tone the muscles. I was taught yoga by people who were convinced of its superiority as a physical exercise, on the basis that it originated in the east and everything eastern is superior. I don’t recall ever having it associated with religion. I haven’t done it in years, but it is a popular form of exercise—someone at work leads a lunchtime yoga group for the physical fitness buffs at work.

Just because a method of physical fitness was developed and practiced by practitioners does not make it an intrinsically religious practice. There is no need to teach the religious tradition of those who developed it, and I’m sure that’s *not* taught at the public school.

They may not teach the religion per se, but I wouldn’t rule out that, when introduced, the teacher explains the origins.

You are SURE because . . . . ? How would you know what the teacher is teaching? There are some pretty screwy teachers out there.

I’m all for this lawsuit. It’s about time. There can always be an apology made for things that oppose God, but He doesn’t care what we think or if we find good in things. Yesterday in church we were taught on the parable of the sheets and the goats and for the first time I heard a pastor preach on Hebrews 10, where the writer talks about willful sin. There is enough in the Gospels and the rest of the Bible that tells us God is not playing. The first commandment is to have no other gods, and beginning in the Old Testament God made clear how much He hates other, false gods (which are demons) that people follow after. And without a doubt things like yoga being taught in school open doors to Eastern religions and other doctrine of demons.

I remember learning a pared-down version of Easter meditation in high school health class and even though I was a Christian believer with very little knowledge of the Bible at all, something about it troubled me spiritually a great deal. I had no religious objections to it and had never heard of any (I live in a very non-religious state), but I found it disturbing and didn’t know why. Meditation is now being taught in schools for similar reasons as yoga, but as Christians we aren’t to be just emptying our minds or focusing on our breathing, but praying and meditating on God and His Word. When I think back, I was introduced to all sorts of things in school which led me down many wrong paths, biblically speaking, into things like Eastern religions, a “mild” interest in the occult, and dependence on man’s wisdom. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil, and He said if you aren’t gathering with Him, you’re scattering, and if you’re not with Him, you’re against Him. I do enough wrong in my life that I don’t want to be deliberately opening doors for people, especially children, which promote beliefs that oppose God and He finds detestable and damnable.

And speaking of our Constitution, it is unconstitutional to teach it. Liberals got Christianity out of schools because Jesus is the only true threat to them, but they are happy to bring in religion in other forms that suit them.
