Tennis star Agnieszka Radwanska has been dropped from her role as ambassador for a Catholic youth movement after she posed nude in ESPN The Magazine's Body Issue, according to Agence France-Presse.

A Polish Catholic group known as Krucjata Mlodych, or Youth Crusade, said it was severing its relationship with the 24-year-old Polish native for what it said was "immoral behavior" in the ESPN spread.

Radwanska, a devout Catholic, had previously urged young Poles to assert pride in their faith in television ads for the group in which she spelled out the word "Jesus" with tennis balls, AFP reported.

Silly Polish girl or agent of indiscretion against Poles, Catholics and Christ/God? Tsk tsk tsk.

I know where “privacy conscious” hypocrite liberals stand on that.

Would the church have been more forgiving if it was a queer magazine? Could church Do-gooderism trump Puritanism?

I am guessing if it’s in ESPN The Magazine it was not full-on frontal. Much ado about a little butt cheek?

Poland at least still has some Judeo-Christian standards.

An understandable mistake - I have heard of many public figures and politicians who are “devout Catholics” but nevertheless openly advocate killing babies, in open violation of Catholic teaching. I have heard some talk from the church about denying them communion, but as far as I know, they are still lining up in the aisles and the priests are still complacently dropping the wafer in their outstreched hands.

While I consider her decision to pose to be in poor taste, foolish, and yes, immoral behavior for any Christian - but especially one who is a public advocate, I also consider her offense to be extremely minor when placed next to the wickedness of Nancy Pelosi. The Catholic church, by allowing Pelosi and her fellow baby-killers to continue to take communion, has lost all moral authority. The actions of this young woman shows that Catholics don’t take their church seriously as a moral compass.

Did any of the critics actually look at the pictures? As an ESPN Insider subscriber I get the magazine for free and I can tell you that anyone who thinks these are pornographic are really off base. Heck, you can visit any public museum and see a lot more skin than in these pictures. Or for that matter a website like TMZ that highlights wardrobe malfunctions.

Even Gary Player, at age 77, posed in this issue!

These pictures are done to highlight the musculature of the athletes, not their sex appeal. The Church over-reacted BIG TIME to this.

True enough - but the catholic Catholic church is MUCH larger than the Polish Catholic church - and the reluctance of the worldwide church to assert moral authority over the baby-killing vampires in their midst erodes the authority of the Polish church right along with the rest of them.

Even as a non-Catholic Christian, I respect the Polish church and how seriously it takes its role as a light of truth in a dark world. But the worldwide Catholic complacency - and especially the depravity of the US church - is closing in on the flickering candle in Poland.

Thanks for a great laugh. I only wish I had you around when I was a young teenager and my mom caught me looking at some musculature pictures.

I’ll ask again, did you actually look at the pictures? There is not one single private part shown on any of them, not just hers. If you don’t know by now that ESPN The Magazine’s annual body issue is dedicated to athletic build, not sex appeal then nothing I say can change your mind.

Any picture in that magazine shoot could be posted here at FR without any censoring.

Stupid, cheap shot comments like yours are not welcome. These are not Playboy shots; they wouldn’t even be Playboy shots in the 1950’s.

“ESPN’s version of SI swimsuit edition...”

No, it’s not. SI’s swimsuit issue is SOLELY sex appeal. Very different market targets. The SI issue is a fluff approach to men looking at pictures that have included a lot of ‘fake’ bikinis that are painted on the nude body, clearly an attempt to appeal to sexuality of men. The ESPN issue is full nudes shot in a way to highlight the subject’s muscle and tone, more of an appeal to the efforts those athletes put into their training. ESPN also has far more advertisers from the health world (supplements, etc.) and has that market as it’s audience, not only in this issue but in much of the year’s issues.

I have and totally agree. Just Google ‘em.

They are not pornography and any kid can find stuff 10 times worse on the internet in about 10 seconds. This is an overreaction. SI simply tries to illustrate what players’ body’s look like and I don’t see one square inch of private parts in any of them.

Lighten up, people. Lighten up.
