And Catholic Charismatics constitute just how much of the Catholic church?

Don't act like a baby because I wouldn't play your game.

First you make the claim that no Catholics do those things. Then I point out that there are Catholics that do. Now you want me to count them. Is there no end to your games?

The use of the word fire when describing purgatory ("purgare", to make clean, to purify) doesn’t mean fire like in our physical lives. It is an analogy for the cleansing that takes place.

Sorry Al but we all know the scripture that your religion uses for its 'proof text' for you guys being burned in purgatory...

2Co 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

1Co 3:13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 1Co 3:14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
1Co 3:15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire

Even tho we can see that no one gets burned here, your religion twists the scripture to show that you guys will get burned in purgatory as a fiery cleansing...

Here is the actual definition: The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines purgatory as a "purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven," which is experienced by those "who die in God’s grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified"

There are those who will attend the Wedding of the Bride (the church) and Groom who are 'friends'...They will not be in the Wedding...The Wedding is for the the adopted children of God...

That is a distinction with a very big difference...I am surprised that your religion uses that phrase alone...

Your own comment shows you wrong. Do you see that phrase "as a fiery cleansing"? As. As in allegory. If you insist on taking it as literal flames or a literal furnace, I can't help you with that.

There are those who will attend the Wedding of the Bride (the church) and Groom who are 'friends'...They will not be in the Wedding...The Wedding is for the the adopted children of God...

Don't focus on just the "friendship" in that quote I posted. Look at the whole thing: "who die in God’s grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified".

Explain how those who die in God's grace will not be in the wedding?

That is a distinction with a very big difference...

It would be if you only consider a portion of the quote out of context like you did.

I am surprised that your religion uses that phrase alone...

What religion and what phrase?

I did? Please provide the link to the post number where I said that, because I went back and reread my comments and cannot find anywhere where I said no Catholics practice those things.

Sure. 261

"And I do know the answers to those questions as every person participating adn reading this forum does so no way you're going to try to snow anyone and convince people that Catholics practice those things."
If I can't convince you that Catholics practice those things then you don't think Catholics practice those things.

Then later you change to: "I do not believe that there are *plenty* of Catholics who practice that sort of thing." You may believe that but it's a false belief.

Why wouldn't you think that? I told you I'm not going to play the game. 0-0. A tie game is a tie game. So don't hurt yourself with your victory dance.

Do tell; we're all waiting on pins and needles. You asked me two questions in that segment. I broke them out separately and answered them.

What happened? Did your Chaput go kaput?

I don't know what that even means. And I don't have a Chaput.

"LOL. Interpretation plays no role in all the conflicting doctrines within Protestantism? Maybe it's time for you to take off the blinders."

Ironic inspiration from a rising prince of the (C)hurch: Abp. Chaput: "The more secular we become, the less we care about the true, right and lasting."

"There's nothing ironic about what the bishop said. You don't believe that the more secular Christianity becomes, the less we care about the true, right and lasting? It isn't the Catholic Church that has changed its doctrine to accept contraception, abortion, and female pastors."
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/3044057/posts?page=260#260

"So Christian Archbishop Charles J. Chaput of Philadelphia glorifies the man and writings of Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius who persecuted and killed Christians in defense of Rome from the Christian’s little “g” god among all the Roman gods (from his perspective), and also in defense of the philosophy of Stoicism against the growing influence of Christianity, and you see no irony in it?"

"The Catholic Church has one set of dogma. Protestants, not so much. "

"Take those chains of dogma off from around your ankles and realize Jesus has already done it all for you and set you free.

THAT, is the "Good News". All Glory to Him alone.

I never made a reference to the "quality" of works.

Of course not. It's not a game of quantity. Good works are about the quality of Christian life one leads. It's not that hard for most to understand.

and know who has set us free from the chains of dogma

"Chains of dogma? Don't kid yourself. Every Christian believes in dogma one way or the other. Is faith in Jesus Christ the Son of God required for salvation? - dogma. Do you believe in your Bible only? - dogma. Do you believe baptism is not necessary for salvation? - dogma."

Don't take my word for it: work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

"In context:

"Philippians 2:12-13

12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Philippians+2&version=NIV

"So is it you working out your own salvation, or is it God "overshadowing" you? I don't think you can save yourself, or Jesus wouldn't have needed to go to the Cross.

But you might fear and tremble if you fully realized the Spirit of the all powerful God was residing in you working "to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose"."

Your tagline noted.

So anyway, chasing everyone around this cul de sac (though I'm sure you feel you're the only one doing the chasing) is taking time away from other interests. Say, Catholic Charismatic Renewal.

So let us both consider the saying: "Never wrestle with a pig, you'll just get dirty, but the pig likes it".
