A primitive description of a natural phenomenon triggered by a supernatural phenomenon governed according to the scientific laws established by G-d.

Then I suppose "natural laws" conceived your Nazarene prophet as well.

A literal reading of Joshua would indicate that the Sun revolves around the Earth. This is contradicted by modern science. However, reading it as the Earth stopped rotating for a period of time would not be contradicted by modern science. So why does Joshua not say that Earth stopped rotating? Simple, that it was recorded as would be perceptible to humans at the time.

I'm absolutely astounded. You believe it actually happened? My understanding was that Catholics dismissed it as a fairy tale.

Mary could not have made the sun dance in Portugal or anywhere; she does not have that power. It would however be possible for G-d to do so. Nor do any reports say that it would be Mary that would cause it to happen. The accounts say that a miracle would occur.

And yet you interpret the "miracle of the sun" in Portugal literally, and you refuse to interpret the miracle of Joshua literally. Ditto Genesis 1-11.

It's not just the first three chapters of Genesis you reject, is it? I assume you reject the entire opening section as mythology?

Jesus was conceived according to the absolute powers of G-d. His growth in the womb; however, would have occurred according to G-d's ordered power.

A miracle happened; it might not have happened in the exact manner described in Joshua, but it happened. The underlying principle in the passage is that G-d aided the Israelites.

And yet you interpret the "miracle of the sun" in Portugal literally, and you refuse to interpret the miracle of Joshua literally. Ditto Genesis 1-11. The point of my statement was to deny Mary's power to cause a miracle to occur. The reports on the matter indicate she said a miracle would occur. I am wary of interpreting accounts of cosmic events literally as it is too easy for science to contradict them. In my view, the point of the flood narrative is to indicate that G-d will smite those who are wicked and save those whom he views favorably.
