Shocked that something like this would happen in Mahony's old stomping grounds...

(no sarcasm...if you see the liturgies from the annual LA Archdiocese Education conventions, you'd understand why...)

He should never have been hired.

If he wants to pack his friends fudge that is up to him, he should not expect the catholic Church to subsidize it.

Leftists are such huge hypocrites

If a public school fired a guy for not approving of the homo lifestyle, they would all applaud

The whiners can petition all they want, but the contract will prevail.

Perhaps he could be rehired after his divorce next year. (/s)

Thanks to Frances the Pope, the homosexual agenda has a
foothold in the church. Now that homosexuals can be
priests and teachers with the blessing of the pope, their
next move will be the acceptance of gay marriage.

You clearly have no clue what you are talking about.

The rules regarding admission to the seminary are clear. One of the rules is no homosexuals!

Go grind your ax elsewhere.

School administrators were aware he was in a same-sex relationship, the attorney said.

This may be the cat's paw which forces the school to back down, in the same way that the Boy Scouts' allowing homosexual Boy Scouts will lead to homosexual Boy Scout Leaders.

Either you have a set of moral standards or you don't.

That sounds awfully judgmental.

It's not quite that simple. Canon Law is somewhat sensitive to the public nature of scandal. If the school knew about the relationship, but it could be reasonably presumed that the public did not, they opted not to expose his private sin as a matter of prudential judgment. Once he went public with his "marriage", though, they had no choice but to cut ties. Just a guess, although they may as well have cut ties once they knew about it, because they ended up (likely) getting sued anyhow.

Guess Anthony Kennedy can start sharpening his spear against the Church. This'll be coming his way in a couple of years I imagine.

Canon law will most likely be deemed irrelevant in the eyes of secular law. And yes, Kennedy will most likely consider the teachings of the Church to be based upon malice.

“The rules regarding admission to the seminary are clear. One of the rules is no homosexuals!”

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/3048661/posts

“His predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI, signed a document in 2005 that said men with deep-rooted homosexual tendencies should not be priests. Francis was much more conciliatory, saying gay clergymen should be forgiven and their sins forgotten.”

My ax is not with the church but with the homosexual
agenda and it’s enablers. My pastor told me today,
“ It’s not the messenger as much as the words he teaches. Your faith is in your heart not his”.
So I guess it doesn’t matter.

Very selective mis-reading. If a person of good will confesses their sins, with a firm purpose of amendment, he is forgiven by God.

The Pope’s statement, consistent with 2000 years of Church teaching, is that men, even priests, bishops and popes, are in no position to judge a person’s heart.

Homosexuals of good will, like any other sinner of good will, can receive forgiveness, and their sins forgotten, BY GOD. Who are we, then, to judge?

Also, the report misconstrues the Pope’s statement, dreaming and wishing that Church teaching has changed. It hasn’t.

The Pope continues, quite successfully, to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, as handed down by the Apostles. Also note, that he preaches the same Gospel by his actions, as well as his words.

You are seriously mistaken. Take another look at this sentence:

While the Church profoundly respects "the persons in question," she "cannot admit to the seminary or to holy orders those who practise homosexuality, present deep-seated homosexual tendencies or support the so-called 'gay culture.'" ("Criteria for the Discernment of Vocation With Regard to Persons with Homosexual Tendencies," 2005 - Link to Text)

Pope Francis said nothing changing or opposing this statement in any form.

He did say that he would not judge a priest who experiences a homosexual orientation, if he "searches for the Lord and has good will." For a priest, of course, the "good will" would include lifelong celibacy.

There was not a word said about approving homosxual conduct --- not for anyone, not at any time.

What was it that misled you on this? Probably the crooked spin put on this story by the EneMedia.

We should be a good deal more skeptical of the continuous, pervasive media bias which serves the corrupt secular agenda.
